Advertising problem

So I have a member on eBay who is not a buyer of mine reach out and ask me to stop puting ads for my item on his listing. I assured him that I only promote my items and do not have a day as to where the ad goes and I cannot change it. He said it’s weird and we didn’t speak. A few days later I get a message saying he is filing a complaint against me and what I am doing is illegal because I am hijacking his listing. I was telling him I have no idea what he means and j do not control the ads, that is not how it works. He was continuing to get nastier and nastier saying ebay can’t help and there’s a glitch in my system and they they have to take a lot of time to fix this problem to which I will have to pay Ebay for their time to fix it. He also said thag I have to close the listing. Which I can do and re-list but due to his attitude I don’t feel like I should do anything for this person. What should I do? Ignore the guy?

Since you replied he may still be able to email you awhile before being blocked.

See my above post @rugerskick because we now have a way past that annoyance of unwanted messages getting through. 😀

This one seems more like a Heather.

Given how eBay stuffs our listings with adverts, I wonder if he's threatening *everybody* who has ads in his listings?

Anyway, agree with no communications - no one more email, no nothing. Save the messages, though, and don't forget to block the guy.

Hell is empty. And all the devils are here.

2. Block through the message as shown in the screenshot below. Blocking through the message will block all future communications from them - instantly - whether or not you're in a transaction with someone.

Interesting... Do you know whether the blocked sender gets a bounce message? Or is his unwanted message simply dropped on the floor with no auto-reply to tell him that he's blocked?

I believe, from anecdotal reports, the buyer knows they are blocked.

All I know with 100% certainty came from here:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/2023-Summer-Seller-Update/Reporting-inappropriate-messages/m-p/3383882...

eBay said, "this will block a user ID from being able to message you at all."

It's my understanding you still have to BBL to block transactions. Block through message blocks only messages, doesn't add ID to your BBL. Blocking through the message will block messages regardless of whether or not you allow blocked buyers to message you based on your buyer requirements page settings. How many times can I say block in a statement?

Its part of the new program ebay has. With promoted display, offsite ads, pay per click etc. You can visit an ebay store now and see ads for other stores with similar products.

It’s a well know fact to people with experience on here that those ads can go wherever they will go on here when you pay for the promotions, including under all the choices for a product on their page or listing. This person has no idea how ebay works when it comes to these ads. Be certain ebay will not do anything to harm your account.

You could also tell them that if they choose to they can PAY FOR PROMOTIONS that will have their item on your page. LOL!

HEY AND IT’S all good tell them because if yours is on theirs and theirs is cheaper, THEY might outsell you. That’s what good about those listings sitting next to yours. You can see them fast and then plan your attack on the price to get yours sold faster.
