Advance listing fee

I recently listed an item (and since I'm in the UK it was on ebay.co.uk) - the starting price was £100, the reserve £325 (although I later reduced that) and the final price sold was £311 ($442.20).

I have had an invoice for Feb/March which covers the date when I inserted the item. That invoice, which it says is for an Advanced listing fee is for $36.71. I am much puzzled by this since I understood that to have a reserve price cost 4% of the reserve set, yet clearly $37.71 is considerably more.

I have also been notified that my next monthly invoice, which will include the 10% selling fee is $46.14.

In the period February to March I have not sold any other items so the fees are just for that one item.

As things are at the moment I have sold an item for a total of $442.20 and to do so will cost me $82.85. I am very puzzled - is this correct and if not, what can I do about it?

I posted this question on the UK ebay message board but was told that I need to ask here - so here I am, asking!

Advance listing fee

You listed on ebay.co.uk so I don't know why you were directed to the .com boards.

You listed in 2 categories. Is it possible they doubled the reserve fee for that? Contact .co.uk CS department and ask.

Advance listing fee

This bothers me too.

They could make it so much simpler.

The date you listed isnt important. Its the date you sold.

I dont understand when you say that you understood that you would be charged 4% of the reserve price.

What does the reserve price have anything to do with it?

We pay 10% of the purchase price with shipping. Those who are selling, anyway.

What is an "advanced listing fee"?

You could really be helping people here when you explain. We are about to be hit with international listing fees, i mean the people still here, will be hit up for international exposure, and if you explain your invoice, they can think again.

So, please, go on.

Advance listing fee

My guess is when you adjusted the reserve price it charge you again, or you were charged double the fee for listing two categories
