Adding UPC to used items

I was wondering, do you add the UPC to listings for used items?

I always try to do it if possible. I attempt to look up the item's model number or MPN and see if I can find a matching UPC. From what I heard items with a UPC show up higher in listings.

Re: Adding UPC to used items

I don't usually bother as I don't think all that many people search by UPC  other than resellers looking for comps.  Besides, most of the time the used items do not have the barcode with them.  Although I might make a modest effort if the item is more expensive.

you really can't unless the item is new with tags. Just list as used and include complete photos with the item tags, labels, and so on.

Listing a used item with no tags and using a UPS code may cause you more trouble.

Re: Adding UPC to used items

Adding a UPC for used items could cause more problems than it solves, frankly, if the UPC wasn't for your exact item.  I can see some phone buyer filing an NAD dispute.   I wouldn't do it.   Then again, I sell/sold vintage primarily and most of those items never had a UPC to add, even brand new.

If it's got a package with a UPC, I add it to the listing but don't know if it does any god here or not.

Have a great day.

Re: Adding UPC to used items

I do, and I add it if known.  It puts it into ebay's catalog under  "used".

I'd rather a loose ornament be listed, along with the used ones with original boxes.  As long as it is the same item.
