Active Content ??

I use eBay listing forms ONLY, no 3rd party, no video, no template, etc. so I figured that none of my listings would have "active content", but when I run the scan, it shows that all of my listings have active content, so eBay put that "active content" into my listings in their HTML. Now they are asking for it to be removed! When I click on a listing with the new "remove active content" nothing really seems to change, but I guess it does in the HTML portion. I don't read code, so don't really know.

Evidently there is a bulk tool that will do that, but my question is; what happens when they activate the NO ACTIVE CONTENT RULE? Are they going to just remove the "active content" part in the HTML in my listings, or are they going to remove my listings from being active, which would basically put me out of business! I just need some clarification on this and seems they haven't been real clear, or if they have, I haven't found where it states that.

In other words.....should I just use the bulk tool, just to be safe, or if I do nothing, will they change my listings and will they still be listed?

Active Content ??

@vintageista

It looks like at some point in time you subscribed to a third-party application called "webstore". I'm not sure what it does, but the Scanner shows you have about 500 listings with the code. The code it too large to easily remove with eBay's bulk edit and replace tool, but you could use the Active Content Editor to remove it in bulk if you wish

Or, if you want to use eBay's description checker to remove the codes one at a time, that would also work because the code is a solid block and would be easily removed without mishap.

Should you choose to do nothing and just let your listings run, nothing will happen for a while. They won't demote in search and eBay won't end them. And eBay won't be removing the Active Content either. However, at some point in time, perhaps the Fall or perhaps after the holidays, eBay will block those listings from relisting. With their new description checker in place, you could probably get past that roadblock one listing at a time when they fail to relist.

Since eBay originally said the failure to relist would come in the Fall, and since they have subsequently never mentioned that time frame again, I'd proceed with caution. We can't be sure WHEN that blocking will begin. You don't want the extra workload to appear during your best selling season. I would look at tackling the revisions within the next couple of months so that you won't be trying to manually relist during your best selling season.

You can either bulk edit them all, or you can start down your list of items and revise a few at a time when convenient, allowing eBay's checker to revise your description for you.
