AI Generated Descriptions

As a buyer (and seller) here on eBay I detest the all to common AI generated descriptions which tell you NOTHING about the item except how it will be a "wonderful addition to your collection".

This became very apparent when I was searching for a Williams Sonoma tablecloth and was getting generic AI descriptions telling me how the tablecloth is a "great collectible".
That may be true for vintage and antique linen.  Most descriptions did not give the condition of the item and many didn't bother with the size because AI did not put it in.

Frankly I got tired of having to email the seller about the condition of the item.  Many use the term "shadow" to hide the fact there is a stain on the cloth.

Please, sellers, give the size of item and condition.  All AI does is give a repeatitive glowing report about the item that is vague.  Also, every darn item seems to have the exact same descriptin...word to word.

I agree about the AI descriptions being absurd. Makes the seller look lazy, like you can't count on the seller to describe the condition accurately.

I also hate how a large percentage of clothing listings don't state measurements. Like not even an armpit measurement.  Seems like that should be a mandatory field, because sizes aren't uniform.

I just scroll past. Saving myself some money, I guess.

Personally, I prefer bulleted listings that state all the specifics a buyer might want to know.

Yes! I know we used to joke about Powerpoint presentations at work and how they were nothing but bullet points and phrases (and it would drive me nuts when the person giving the presentation would read the slide to you as if you could not read it yourself) - but in the case of a listing here it helps immensely to just GET to the POINT and stick to the facts. Practically nothing on this site is really a 'must-have' after all...

Exactly!  I just purchased a name brand t-shirt with tags still on it. An obvious outlet or thrift store item but that doesn't bother me if it's what I want.  But no measurements given on it.  Since I was familiar with the brand and it had a size tag I decided to trust (and the price was decent).  Turns out the tee is mis-tagged and is 2 sizes larger! Of course, the description was AI by lazy seller.  Plus, I don't want to pay return as the item was technically as described based on the size tag. Lesson learned DO NOT buy without measurements.
