.35 relisting fees when under my monthly limit

I don't understand the under 250 listing limit, yet still be charged on unsold items that are automatically relisted.

I was encouraged by a PRO, that if your items aren't selling, END LISTING (which put me 200 listings less) and relist them to get more views and sales...which should have put me back to the under 250 listings I originally had...I was charged almost $50 and then another charge came later.

What is going on? Can anyone explain this so I can understand?

Thanks for your help...

I may be removing all my sales if this continues...I don't make that much as it is, and this is not worth the time and effort to keep losing money each month...

Blessings to who ever can help...

Do you have any items listed in 2 categories? If so, the second category will cost $.35.

I'd be cautious on people that are considered "Pro".

Who classified them as a "Pro"?

A lot of "Pro" content creators out there to make money regardless if it's misinformation or not.

I wouldn't cancel and relist unless you know you aren't going to go over with the relists.

Fixed Price listings renew every month, each time that happens it uses up one of your free listings.

If the number of new listings and the number of renewals in a single month exceeds 250 then you start to pay listing fees.

If you closed a listing which had automatically relisted in the same month and then manually relisted, it would be counted twice toward your free 250.

As for your advice from a PRO. It is folklore. It may be true or it may be imagination. There is no proof that it works, always works or ever works. When things sell might be random or affected by something else which is occurring.

I think that if you want to live with only the 250 free listings you should consider ending the 60+ listings you are selling for $6 or less and not relist them. That should give you some cushion to add more or experiment with some of the black magic some sellers do. It is not like they are worth the time or effort to sell.

not sure if this is your issue, but:

each list...........  each relist ................. counts toward using your allotted 250

are you going over 250?

you don't get 250 "new" every month to add onto the 250 that you got the month before.

I disagree with this pro but I know some sellers truly believe this.

I have been selling here for 20+ years and have never ended a listing just to relist it again to try and get more views/sales.

If people want your item, they will buy it.

I say "to each his/her own."

I am a seller who usually ends my listings (manually) on the night before they will auto relist. Then I "sell similar" the next morning.

My way of thinking is based on the way I do my own searches when shopping. When shopping, I search "newly listed" and as such, in ending my listings and relisting/sell similar, my listings come up as newly listed.

Whether this works as far as making more sales, I don't see a difference.

On your seller hub under promotions you can find the number of freebie listings you have to use for the month along with a running total of used ones.

You have 238 listings up currently. If you did not sell anything or list anything new, you are using 238 listings EVERY month. If you end them all and relist, that's another 238 listings. If you add 20 new items this month, that's 20 more listings. When you sell an item, you don't get a "free" listing back. Look at the "Free" 250 listing like 250 dollars. Every time you list or relist something, you spend a dollar each time. When your 250 listings that are free are used up, then you get charged for every single listing over that 250.

So with over 200 items, I can see exactly why you are getting charged for listings over the 250 you get for free.

@la*chanteuse

I would suggest you get familiar with your Seller Hub.  It may be a little overwhelming in the beginning, but you will over time be very happy you have all the information it offers at your fingertips.  You can also customize the tiles to be in the order you use them the most.

This tile on your Seller Hub will keep you 100% updated on where you stand with your listings at all times.
