2023

I cannot recall if it was the summer of 2020 or 2021.  Anyway, there was a 2-week span where I set a personal record of 42 + 44 sales within that time period.  I guess I knew what I was doing back in those olden days because in the entire year of 2023, I only had, in the neighborhood, of 100 sales.  LOL  None of it had to do with changes by eBay.  I guess I just lost my touch.  It's a good thing I found a venue where there is several less potential buyers but still generate MORE sales.   🙂  Good luck to you if you still believe eBay is the way to make ends meet.  Spread your wings!   🙂   Take care, all.

Ah yes the golden days of the Pandemic Surge in online buying, before most people were vaccinated and returned to the mall.

How long before?

You started posting endless complaints of no sales starting in 2017.

Pandemic changed everything and we are far from over it.  People simply don't care pay attention, for example the newest variant floating about doesn't seem care about age at all.  Word has it that its developed several new proteins which help it evade immune response times.  Then there is the research about "Long Covid" stating some 20 million Americans alone have reported long term impacts yet the research is showing every person who got Covid has long Covid.  The proteins left in cells from the virus render the cells partially dysfunctional even if people dont realize it.  This is going to be around along time just like the Flu except for the fact its not seasonal and is far far far more contagious.  That's the health side and the health expense is ENORMOUS yet you won't hear that talked about much in economics nor that of the college loan burden which Covid put unto steroids.  Tens of thousands of other issues, some direct, some reactionary but just about everything has changed whether people care realize or not.

The money give aways that folks embraced and online sellers very much enjoyed came full circle into inflation as one of the main drivers.  Shows how blind so many folks are not connect the two and there impacts.  What made for good selling come full circle make for less buying.

Mamazon be reporting earning today after the bell.  I'm betting they had a very very good Q4 given banner Black Friday and Banner Cyber Monday sales not to mention the deals they'd run holiday season.  I'm gonna bet Walmart exceeded expectations too as they were very very aggressive too.  Towards eBay, well we'll see but I'll bet it was less than banner and the reason why was that retail aggression literally everywhere one turn yet where were the 50%+ off sales here?

I'm even going to bet third party sellers at Amazon's sales were up considerably as residual buying given their seller competitive pricing model.

Like you I have found a number of other venues but I did it long ago. At one point eBay constituted about 80-90% of my sales volume, that is down to about 20%. Some of that has been driven by eBay's constantly expanding prohibited and restricted items list as well as the VERO program. I have several venues that will handle about anything as long as it is legal and a couple that will even handle firearms and ammunition.

I wonder if anyone ever created a topic in the community without someone joining in with snide remarks?  lol

Have you ever heard the expression “A rising tide lifts all boats”?

It seems reasonable to believe that the same principle applies to an ebb tide?

Just as I thought Mamazon beat expectations by good measure albeit I loath the company.  Not rocket science, every online retailer on the planet running huge sales through the holidays and people here are 10-15% off.  Then they expect consumer to forget the time they wasted trying to shop here and wonder why they dont come back.
