Her Feedback:
"The item description and the photographs were quite misleading. The items sent were highly tarnished and in broken condition, however, the seller did not at any stage disclose the same to me. Also, 'Avon jeweler' is not 'signed jewelery', kindly do not mislead unsuspecting buyers. I think she takes the 'junque' part too seriously, for that's exactly what I was sold."
My reply:
"Im sorry you were unhappy with your purchase. It is vintage jewelry and not new. Here is some of the items in that lot you recived:
Signed Lia Sophia "Appletini" Ring (Retired)
Signed Lia Sophia "Alex" Necklace (Retired)
Signed Avon silvertone flower basket pin (selling for atleast $10 alone)
Avon unsigned (dot in circle) Curly necklace (selling for $15-22 alone-use reverse google)
Avon "Precious Pretenders" 1971 Clip on earrings
Vintage Avon Gold Toned Dangle Leaf Earrings with Rice-Like Faux Pearl Accents -Signed on the butterly backs "Avon" goldtone leaf and faux pearl earrings (selling right now for over $16 on Etsy)
Unsigned 1928 Brand (swirl on back) goldtone pink rose earrings
Signed Trifari Necklace
Signed Napier Necklace
Signed RLL (Ralph Lauren) purple glass necklace (signed RLL etched in the glass)
Signed RLL (Ralph Lauren) 14K gold square post back earrings (signed 14K on posts and RLL inside)
Rare signed Merlite brand (M pictograph on the hangtag) clear and green rhinestone bracelet
Elephants were stamped 925 with Marcasites
Goldtone pressed real flower necklace (new old stock-never worn)
1960's Signed Sarah Coventry "Light of the East" Brooch and matching signed post back earring set
Double Ram head Goldtone Earrings
Signed W Germany mother of mary rhinestone necklace, new old stock
Vintage red rhinestone ladybug pin (collectors item)
Amber glass and pearl drop leverback earrings
The glass heart "Those we love dont walk away" memorial necklace is an unsigned Danbury Mint-(use reverse google, sells for $35-$39 alone)
Goldtone Stamped "14K" Goldtone Necklace
Faux Pearl and Black glass Necklace
Clear rhinestone Angel Pin
And more. Yes a few items had some wear/tarnish like the near antique brass embossed box, one of the bracelets and a necklace and the signed necklace and earring set had some tarnish, one goldtone necklace needed ends attached, but the majority did NOT have tarnish and were in great to excellent condition for their age. All earring had pairs".
No, my photos weren't that great, I agree. She shows one earring that a cab came off (it was in good condition when I packed it) and an antique pin that did have some wear, but the extra tiny stones were intact prior to shipping (from US to India). It is vintage estate jewelry and not new. Purchaser has zero feedback.
I know you cant please everyone but her saying its junque, broken and all tarnished is not true, so Im just on my soapbox here because I cant put all of this in my reply feedback...

If this isn’t how the protections are supposed to work, I wish a seller with first hand experience would weigh in. I’d like to know.

I'm the house weirdo who thinks it's actually a good thing to have 1 negative feedback at all times, but I would be glad to see this one get scrubbed, just to wipe the smirk off that little snob's face. 😎.

Okay, I'll bite: why a good thing to have one negative FB? Because I wont loose sleep over the feedback, but I may be thinking about this..

Thanks so much for all the support & feedback btw, I really appreciate it!..Well I guess it shows I'm human to have neg feedback after all. I should have waited to post the better photos/descript. Like learning my own lesson, but amazing how many folks here are so supportive!

1. I swear I'm not making this up: I was going to start this reply "For one thing it shows that you are a human" ..... then I saw that you literally just said that exact ^ thing! But it's true, and it matters because there are buyers who don't trust 100% sellers. They know eBay can remove feedbacks upon request, so they assume some sellers have limitless privilege in that regard, that anyone who has lots of history but zero negative feedbacks must be getting all their negs removed, therefore they have a license to abuse buyers with impunity. I've seen a few talk about this belief in the Buyers forum, and any "few" people talking about something here represents who-knows-how-many who don't come here.
If you think about, a 100% score is freakish among publicly-rated commerce. Have you ever seen a business with a flawless review history on Yelp?
2. 100% positive is a bright red target for buyers who attempt to get partial refunds as routine. And why not try to get an after-sale discount, when there are definitely sellers who'll do it .... might as well try, right?! And who would be the most likely sellers to cave? Which ones have something they'd really like to keep? -Sellers with 100. This past June the 1 neg I had at the time reached its' one year anniversary and rolled off .... and I'm not kidding, the very next day I got my first partial refund attempt in a year. That one didn't push too hard and just didn't leave feedback ... but the next one did, and you can see how I merrily responded to it.
So, if you've had trouble with partial refund requesters, hinters, demanders, or just 'pushy' buyers in general, you might notice that occurring less, now that they can see you're not a seller with something precious to lose. And good buyers can see you're a real person with a solid A+ score on thousands of transactions.

Getting a red hickey every now and then is not the end of the world. The neg will disappear being visible in 1 years time from your FB ratings. Your selling performance is NOT affected by it (used be a measurement of sellers status). Heck most people I've run into never received all !00% on their report cards all the way from K to 12 and beyond or in marriage. or relationship or etc.
You admitted to something got messed up on the clarity of the photo - things happen, no one is perfect. Hint for the future don't be so defensive if this happens again. IMHO your response to the neg way too wordy, looks way too defensive. Keep any future response short, sweet, to the point = professional . Understand your ego has been shattered but it sure isn't the end of the world - but the whole eBay world can now see your reply - I certainly did not read all the way thru it - consider it a learning experience. Throughout a 41 year career in tete-a-tete selling heard this tidbit of information over, over and over - "with your best efforts consider yourself very lucky if you please 80% of the people you run into along your journey".

Yes, lessons leaned certainly on my photos & description. Of course its not the end of the world to get a red mark, however the person lied-saying it was all broken, tarnished junk when it was not. I came on here (yes admittedly to vent a bit) and to get other thoughts, advice, feedback etc. and Im glad I was able to say what I needed to say. Nothing to do with a shattered ego for getting a red mark (or perhaps even a few down the road..who knows..). I should have aptly named the post "How would you react- or not- when someone lies on your feedback?"
I doubt the whole world is looking at my post (that would be ego for me to think).
I received some good feedback, thoughts, advice and even opinions.. Thank you everyone. Have a great day/night 😊 tomorrows another day.

I've never had a buyer ask for an after-sale discount. I wouldn't cave to that. As for partial refund, I believe once I did refund in part, but I don't recall the exact item, but I did request proof photos. I've been fortunate generally that I haven't had pushy, or demanding people. Quite possibly the reason, years ago, I have put those policies in place on each template. Maybe not everyone reads them, but it offers my terms in black and white before someone decides to buy or bid. They know where I stand before the sale. Not to say, I haven't had some folks who want to go back and forth with a best offer price; that's the name of that game for BO. It depends on how fast I want to sell the item. As for 100% FB in 20+ years, it may look freakish, I can agree. But it can also be a testament to ones passion for work and good customer service. As for ebay removing all negative feedbacks, I can attest to the fact that they dont, lol. I suppose some may think that, but I dont think they are removing feedbacks at sellers requests, I haven't heard of it, but ill check out the buyers forum to learn more. But like you say, at the end of the day were all human. I just try and treat my customers the way I'd like to be treated too. I think I was more peeved about the person lying than I was about the neg FB in general. But, agree, one - isn't tarnishing the other thousands of + 😌

Didn't say the whole world would see but the whole eBay world "can" as in they have the ability to do so if they so choose.

I don't see anything wrong with her reply. It's "wordy" to refute the things the buyer claimed in HER wordy comment, which made numerous scathing and untrue accusations. I don't know if you buy jewelry but I do, and if I was considering buying from the OP, the negative comment might give me pause (probably not because it's the only one, but it might make me scrutinize her listings more). But seeing the reply she wrote would clarify to me that that buyer was just full of spit.
LOL you want to see what BAD wordy replies look like? And the thing is, the things people claim in their negs are absolutely true. And yet she still gets an insane amount of sales, and has 95% positive feedback. She never ceases to astound me. -I hadn't read her feedbacks in a while, looks like she is starting to get downright paranoid about eBay so I wonder how long they'll put up with that. My guess is she promotes her listings at a crazy high rate, so that's why they tolerate her.

Have you pointed out to ebay this was an EIS sale when you requested the feedback removal?

All I can say is I've noticed that negative or neutral FB seems to come in bursts. It's almost as they're contagious or somehow cyclical. I can go for months without a single neutral or negative but as soon as I get one 2 or 3 more are just around the corner.
I've gotten 3 neutrals this week... after several months without one. Don't get me wrong, I couldn't care less but never the less it's WEIRD!
