1099 form

I am wondering if I will get a 1099 from ebay this year. Is the document based on total or net sales? If total I may just squeak in under the wire if I make enough sales by the end of the month. But I will be well below the $20K threshold if based on net sales.

@mr_lincoln  sorry about that, looks like that was an incomplete link to the announcement.  It's pinned on the Payments board but just to make it easy for anyone where, I'll try this again. 😉

Re: 1099 form

Mrs Mam - I looked up form 1099 as you showed me, instead of starting a new post.  I have one question. Will the 1099 include the state sales taxes that we never received? Your assistance is appreciated. Thank you.  PS - If it does, will we be able to go over all of our year's sales to deduct the sales taxes? That's two questions, sorry. L

They won't respond.  They are one of the posters just posting single lines all over the forum.

The 1099-K information can be found on eBay's help page concerning 1099-K forms.

On Ebay they state in their procedures that they do NOT include sales tax on their 1099Ks.  So on Ebay they don't do that.  But that is not true for other sites.  PayPal and others do include sales tax in their 1099Ks, so just look at things closely.

Back to MP, there are reports in the Seller Hub under the Payments tab that will assist you with the details.  Keep in mind that ALL 1099Ks are for the Gross Receipts moving through your MP account, that is NOT the same thing as income.  Gross Receipts includes everything that moves through your MP account with the exception of sales tax here on Ebay.

So you need to be able to deduct for buyer refunds, cancellations, fees, shipping, etc.  You will need to reconcile any 1099K you get.

Looks like ALL replies from that user have been removed! 👍

I wonder if that is happening to all the one liners of late?

@dryophelia  Nope, they started to show up on a thread I started (below) from at least 4 IDs created over last weekend ... those I avoid responding to or supporting ...

Re: 1099 form

What exactly is a "seller collected tax"? I've never added a tax to any of my sales. Does that mean I have no seller collected tax. And meanwhile, regarding the tax that ebay does collect, I can assume is not on the 1099-K (if I ever should get one...I'll be close for 2021 sales unless I throttle down.)

Well, TBH, using a throw-away id on a thread about organic marshmallows might not be that big of a travesty.
