Re: eBay AI description program

I don’t think that it is limited to a particular OS.  When you list an item, and go to enter the item description, you’ll see an option to use the eBay AI description.  You can edit after eBay takes a first crack.

I have used it to fill in descriptions on some collectible Star Wars books and some not so collectible Halloween costumes.

Re: eBay AI description program

I've only used it once recently and it was pretty impressive. You will find it next to seller's description when you are creating a new listing. I did go in and edit it a little to add some extra specifics, but it would have been fine without.  The one thing I noticed when editing the original AI description is that I had to go in and add some spaces between words. For some reason, it took out correct spacing between certain words so be aware and proofread after making any changes or editing.

Re: eBay AI description program

I found it while revising a item description,  works excellent!

Just check it to make sure it is description is accurate to the item, and add any disclaimers or specifics to you..

Othwise it's pretty good and showboat sales pushing love it!

Re: eBay AI description program

Is this available on a PC or just the app? I haven't used it yet because I've always used a program to list my items, but am considering trying it out.

Re: eBay AI description program

@flosposhcloset

The AI description creator is currently available for sneakers in the mobile app and in the Quick Listing tool that eBay shows new sellers.  Since I'm in Seller Hub, I can't get to the tool.

This tool is great for sellers who don't want to type on a phone or who have difficulty with language.

However, I've noticed that the AI creates fluffy descriptions that I don't want to read when trying to learn more about the item. I would recommend editing out some of the extraneous content and adding bullet lists.

Here are two examples of shoe Listings created by eBay's AI tool (uses ChatGPT):

This AI generated content came from a listing:

Elevate your athletic performance with these Hoka One One Clifton sneakers in size 8. The stylish blue color and low top design make them perfect for women who are always on the go. Ideal for various activities, these sneakers are a must-have for any fitness enthusiast.

Featuring a brand name synonymous with quality, these Hoka One One Clifton sneakers offer comfort and durability. Whether you're running errands or hitting the gym, these sneakers will keep you going. Don't miss out on the opportunity to add these sneakers to your collection today.

I logged into ChatGPT and asked it to condense it more and this is the result:

Enhance athletic performance with Hoka One One Clifton sneakers in women's size 8. Stylish blue, low-top design suits active lifestyles. Ideal for various activities, a must-have for fitness enthusiasts. Branded for quality, they offer comfort and durability for errands or gym sessions. Don't miss out, add these sneakers to your collection today.

This AI description came  from a listing:

Upgrade your athletic shoe game with these Skechers Skech-AIR Element 2.0 sneakers in navy and hot pink. The lace-up closure and low-top shoe shaft style make them perfect for any occasion, from activewear to casual and workwear. The rubber outsole material provides extra durability, and the memory foam insole material ensures maximum comfort during any performance or activity, whether it's gym and training, walking, cycling, or running and jogging.

These sneakers are handcrafted with synthetic upper material and accented with lace and eyelet details. The Skechers Skech-Air product line is known for its cushioned and comfortable features that cater to the sports theme and vintage style. Available in US shoe size 11, UK shoe size 8, and EU shoe size 41, these sneakers are the perfect addition to any footwear collection.

I asked ChatGPT to condense that description and this is the result:

Elevate your footwear with Skechers Skech-AIR Element 2.0 sneakers in navy and hot pink. Versatile lace-up low-tops for any occasion – from activewear to casual or workwear. Durable rubber outsole, comfy memory foam insoles for gym, walking, cycling, or running. Handcrafted with synthetic upper, lace, and eyelet accents. Known for cushioned comfort and vintage style. Available in US 11, UK 8, EU 41, a must-have addition to your shoe collection.

Notice the similarity in ChatGPT's vocabulary in both the original and re-do.  It wants to "elevate", "enhance", or "upgrade" and I don't need any of those words. Just the facts, please. Perhaps these descriptions are full of fluff because there are limited words in the title or item specifics from which the AI creates the description.

Re: eBay AI description program

I asked ChatGPT to write a paragraph to sell this item:

Apple A2172 iPhone 12 128GB Bundled with charger, case, headphones, and cable

This is what ChatGPT wrote:

Get ready to experience the world of Apple like never before with the Apple A2172 iPhone 12 128GB bundle. This incredible package includes not only the sleek and powerful iPhone 12 with ample 128GB of storage but also essential accessories to enhance your iPhone journey. You'll receive a charger for lightning-fast power-ups, a stylish case for added protection, high-quality headphones for immersive audio, and a reliable cable to keep your device connected. Whether you're capturing stunning photos, enjoying entertainment, or staying productive, this bundle has everything you need to elevate your iPhone experience. Don't miss out on this fantastic deal that combines performance and convenience in one sleek package.

I then asked for less flowery:

Upgrade your mobile experience with the Apple A2172 iPhone 12 128GB bundle. This package includes the iPhone 12 with 128GB of storage, along with practical accessories: a charger for quick recharging, a protective case, headphones, and a reliable cable. It's all you need for a complete iPhone setup, whether you're into photography, entertainment, or productivity. This bundle offers convenience and functionality in one straightforward package.

Then I asked for bullet points, and this was the result I like best:

  • Apple A2172 iPhone 12 with 128GB storage
  • Charger for fast recharging
  • Protective case included
  • Headphones for immersive audio
  • Reliable cable for connectivity
  • Everything you need for a complete iPhone setup

You can play with your own ChatGPT at the tool's official website (the results appear to be quite similar to the ChatGPT descriptions on eBay). You will need an email and password to create a free account.

Re: eBay AI description program

I found it when listing similar,  adjusted and added for accurate description.  Now it is next day, and the AI is gone,  there is nothing  where it was before.   Can anyone advise

@dofed_13

I have found it on specific categories (like trading cards and sneakers). It hasn't rolled out to all categories.

Re: eBay AI description program

I noticed yesterday when i shared a couple of my listings on social media that all my descriptions were AI generated. I use my laptop not my phone to do my listings. My descriptions were replaced by Ebays AI. I liked AI descriptions better than mine. I hope Ebay keeps it for all sellers not just phone sellers.

Re: eBay AI description program

I have a PC - desktop that I used AI yesterday,  One was GI Joe,  and today when I went to revise another GI Joe listing the AI was not there.  It just seems strange one day it is there then the next day it's AWOL.

will keep checking hopefully it will come back.

Re: eBay AI description program

I was not using social media, but my desktop pc, and there was AI in all the listings I was revising. and/or sell similar,  it is a great tool,  my question what happened to it.   I thought I had accepted something for AI to appear, but I couldn't find it, no matter where I looked.   I hate that something appears one day and the next day it is gone.    I made a couple of sales from the AI description.  So it is a good experience for me at least.

You just need to check it before you accept the item to list for sale.

Re: eBay AI description program

I don't use the AI listing tool, and tend to click away when I read a description that reads like AI.

It reads like there's no "person" there, and the descriptions are often obviously inaccurate.

I can imagine a large gray warehouse where items on conveyor belts slide past a Google image recognition scanner and the AI copy prints out.

The AI listings all seem to be cheap sales pitches rather than item descriptions.
