Trying here before calling in.
I finally got my first listing up using file exchange. The picture did not come through.
I am using google photo. I created a link and pasted it into flat file, no idea what's going wrong.
Any ideas?
Can I use google photo?
If not what does everyone else use ?
Dealing with sports cards.
Thanks

On personal servers, failed image transfers are usually due to the personal server not responding quickly enough to eBay photo requests, and the solution there is to post smaller, more compressed photos and upload smaller batches.
There are three possible issues when a photo from a high speed site fails to transfer via file exchange.
1) the URL for the image was a page URL or specialty URL and not a picture URL.
2) the account is password protected or the folder is not made publicly viewable.
3) the hosting site blocks using their photos on sales venues.
I don't think google blocks their photos, although things always change.
Do you have an image URL that you can share here that can be checked for validity?

I found your listing.
This is the photo that you uploaded to eBay, but the shorthand link is actually a redirect to a web page for sharing the photo, and the webpage is not itself an image.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/pm1ALhye8mwb6jwx5
Clicking the image on that webpage enlarges it, but the URL is yet another web page.
By right-clicking the enlarged image and copying it's image location, or by dragging the image to a new window, we get this valid image URL:
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/ACtC-3dhRw-D3xyxB9lazTb4g-zbDBOUosycyJKpzYN80-RhgNriiWqfUBPl9FIA-xChqTsYCGtu8ZWnUKOvuIGe6MAvJ0L5hFFDl1eVPT3sLTHZwge3ipIU-NTZoedf20bYl438B7IAUoZnHVzpM-FE8VTD=w446-h594-no
See if you can find some setting on your google photos account that will give the type of URL shown above. I'm not personally familiar with google photos, although some sites call this a "direct link".

Hi ! Thank you for your response, there is surprisingly little information on good searches for this. I will tackle your advice when I get home. I started with google photos but I don't mind using a paid service, ideally one that has these direct links available to cops and past quickly. I'm not real real technical , I do understand 3/4 of what you wrote lol. I'm just a guy trying to learn the fastest way to list items. I'll use any advice you give. Thank you so much for your help.

Mr.Shipscript the best I could test while at work was open google photo and right click, copy image address. I used this super super long url to update my test listing. When I get home tonight I will try a couple more listing with file exchange using this method. I get the feeling if it was enough to update the listing it should work with file exchange as well.

Ugh got a rejection picture url must be within 500 character. Back to the drawing board.

Was the error message about the size of the photo?
Photos must be at least 500 pixels on the long side, and cropping a photo can make it too small for eBay. If you went to your google site and picked up the URL for a smaller version of your photo, it won't work. You will need to pick up the enlarged, or full size, photo.
Photobucket is a pay site that will provide the direct URL.

Just wanted to update for everyone so it may help someone someday.
File exchange was so hard for me because a lot of the information is outdated, I guess they must have made some change here lately.
Second part is the template specific value csv fil you download is hard to read , I think mine was actually missing information.
3rd part I 100% used imageshack trial account to upload images and will turn it into a paid account when it runs out.
Lastly this Shipscript person is a life saver !
P.S. If anyone has any ideas to help list sportscards or any type of cards in a more efficient way or tips and tricks with file exchange please reach out to me.
