What other desktop listing software for Apple computers is there on the market?
I've been using GarageSale for many years, but unfortunately version 7 no longer works with eBay due to eBay no supporting the previous version of their API.
Version 9 of GarageSale only allows you to upload 50 listings per month. After that its $14.95 a month. As eBay users only get 250 listings per month without insertion fees its not worth paying $14.95 a month to list another 200 items considering how bad sales have declined over the years. For that amount of money I'll just list the items on my own site.
GarageSale was much more valuable in previous years when eBay would routinely hold free insertion periods. I regularly received invitations to list 50,000 or more items without insertion fees. One could work on listings for weeks and list them all at once, ship everything out, and done in a week or so.
The previous Macintosh tool, called A.I.D., came out around 2000, but was also killed off by eBay when eBay had the not to bright idea of wanting to charge developers for using their API, which was created by another company and not eBay. As the publisher didn't want to pass this cost onto its users it went out of business.
eBay's list form, sell similar, CSV files and 3rd party webpage based solutions are way too slow by comparison.
Apparently with over 10,000 employees and billions of dollars eBay can't figure out to release a effective desktop application that is even close to GarageSale - application maintained by 3-4 people on a part time basis. Shows you how much eBay cares.
