Invoice fees question

Ive had my ebay account for a while now but only started using it for buying last year? And started selling last month so far ive only used it once to sell a mechanical keyboard that i didnt need anymore so i sold it.

Now i got a email about a $15 invoice fee which hit me by surprised since i am new to this but not angry or anything just wanted to ask questions to learn more about it.

Now i dont mind paying it, i just have a few question for the future

1. Am i gonna be charge a fee every month? Even if I dont have anything on my listing anymore?

2. If i dont add anything on my listing or sell anything anymore am i still gonna be charge each month?

3. Do i only get an invoice fee if i actually sell an item? So if i dont have anythine else to sell this month or the next month i should stop getting charge for invoice fee right?

3. How do i avoid getting invoice fees? Or will it always charge me everytime I make a sell?

Okay thanks.

So i got a fee because my item was sold? And because im using ebay to sell my item i paid a fee for it?

So now that i dont have anything else to sell will i keep getting charge?

also how do i pay the fee?

I went to my invoice and i dont see anywhere to pay.

It says it on the email i got “Your invoice amount will be automatically debited from your automatic payment method. No action is required on your part. The amount debited can vary based on recent payments or credits.”

so is did i already pay for it automatically?

- You did get a fee because your item was sold on the eBay platform.

- If you didn't sign up for any recurring seller fees and you don't sell anything else you won't get another invoice.

- Your invoice is set to be paid by your chosen Automatic Payment Method. No need in trying to pay it now, because it will still automatically pull. In the future, you can make One-Time payments for your fees as you sell... but I don't recommend it after it has been invoiced.

Re: Invoice fees question

@drea-1339   Below is a link to the Selling Fees section of the Help Pages ... stay away from using upgrades like Bold text in the title, Gallery pictures, Reserve price for auctions, etc.  Those ffes are charged every time an item is Listed or Relisted.

Every time you sell something you owe fees to both eBay and PayPal.  PayPal fees are different amounts than eBay .... 2.9% for Domestic sales plus a 30 cent non-refundable transaction fee ...

Re: Invoice fees question

I see yeah i understand that because the item was sold on ebay that im paying a fee.

okay since my payment is automatic it said this

You have set up PayPal as your automatic payment method. Your invoice amount will be automatically deducted from your PayPal account between September 30, 2020 and October 2, 2020”

So I dont have to worry about paying it right now since it is set to be paid on Sept 30 / Oct 2.

I see okay thanks for helping!

Much appreciated

@drea-1339

I would like to add one more note that often catches new sellers by surprise.  If you sell an item and the buyer fails to pay, in addition to any listing creation fees, you will still owe eBay the selling fee (the commission) unless you let eBay know that the item went unpaid. Here is what must be done to get that selling fee (commission) reversed:

  1. Two or more days after the sale (but no more than 30), open an "unpaid item" request in the Resolution Center (bottom of most pages) or use the option next to your listing on your sold items page.
  2. eBay will give the buyer four more days to pay.
  3. If the buyer fails to do so, after the fourth day, you can close the request in your favor.
  4. eBay will reverse the selling fee and you will be able to relist the item.
  5. If the fee and reversal cross a billing period, you will pay in one period and will then receive a credit in the next period. That credit is a negative number that may persist for months on end and that some mistake as a monthly recurring billing instead of a credit balance. A member can ask eBay to send a credit back to their funding source.
