Import database from Windows7 pc to Windows10 pc

Hi;

I'm unable to find this info (although I'm certain I have in the past)..?

I've finished installing TL2 on a Windows10 pc, and would now like to restore all my former accounts; in the past I successfully imported my db from a Vista pc to a Windows7 pc.

I want to be certain that I do it correctly this time as well; so ...

What files do I need to bring over from the Windows7 pc, and into which directory?

Thanks in advance! MDP

First do a Tools>Compact databases. If that fails, restart Turbo and repeat the Tools>Compact Databases immediately. I have never seen this fail twice.

Second, Do a Turbo backup of your database files (d o not do this before the Compact!). Click File>Backup database. This will backup the files to your hard disk (on your Win 7 computer, or you could backup to a cd, if you tell the backup to do so (change the backup file name to point to your cd drive)).

Third, Restore your database files to the Win 10 computer, using the Turbo options.

All should be fine.

I have no experience with multiple logins, however, you will import your current listings (for each login) when you create them on the new TurboLister.

Restore the database from one login, then look at the others for the 'Inventory' database. If the 'Inventory' records are not as you are used to for the other logins, then yes, you will need to do this for each user.

Again, do Compact!! often during the process (before each and every backup (and restore on the Win 10 PC)).

Re: Import database from Windows7 pc to Windows10 pc

Thanks, very much, for your assistance ... I really appreciate it!

It seems as though not all items made it over (80 out of 127 on one user, and 89 out of 130 on the other); should I keep executing the Restore until they all come in? Or should I try some more Backup's on the Win7 pc then do some more Restore's? (I can readily select "Add To" instead of "Replace" items on the Restore).

TIA!! MDP

I have successfully migrated my databases; the sequence that you provided (Compress + Backup) has restored my current inventory ... Thank you again 😄
