I see a few, ignored odl threads on this, but has there ever been any progress in allowing users to filter out Collection Only posts from searches? It seems a no brainer option, and a simple fix technically - and I See a lot of requests on the net for it - but I can't see any solution?

What is a "collection only post"?
I've never seen one in any of my eBay searches that I'm aware of.

It just clicked - you are referring to "local pickup only", but with the UK twist.
(posters not in the US really need to disclose that fact when they post on US ebay forums - I'm not going to research every poster to figure out whether ebay.com rules, policies, and website behavior apply, and I see a lot of other responders led astray until someone figures out that the OP isn't talking about USPS, or US PayPal rules, or ebay.com issues).
To answer your original question - the answer is still no for ebay.com. No idea about ebay UK.
That is something that can probably be fairly easily done via client side scripting in the user's browser (like a minor modification of GSPKiller or SellerSnubber scripts for FireFox w/ GreaseMonkey addon).

Started poking around to test things and as an aside, found this:
ebay UK has a thing they are calling "Click & Collect" and is a toggleable delivery option on the left nav bar on search pages. Looks pretty much like Amazon Lockers here in the US. Seller ships to buyer selected pickup location. and buyer then has 7 days to gather it up before it gets returned*

*I'm sure there's all sorts of INR atrocities amd oversights in that setup waiting to happen.
(no relevance/application to OP's issue - still looking at that.....)

Not worth it.
