Adding Devices and Account Security

Have checked throughout this forum and didn't see this question ever being answered. Ever since I got my new computer I've been having issues with eBay not being able to recognize my device. Nor is there an option to add a device.

What that leaves me with is, "unknown device" when checking my account. Is my account really compromised? I would never know since I can't even add a device to my eBay account. Find this highly aggravating.

So, my question would be if eBay will ever implement safer ways to secure our accounts such as adding an option to add our own devices?

Re: Adding Devices and Account Security

I have the same problem.  Every time I sign on to ebay, I get an email message about a 'new device' accessing ebay.  It's the same computer I've been using for over a year.  How can I get this message to go away?

Re: Adding Devices and Account Security

I have an app that clears ALL cookies (deep cleans) that I use when I leave eBay. since using this app. eBay no longer has the cookie tracking of my activity since leaving their site, also, I believe my internet provider attaches a different ISP each time I log in. I get the "new device" message every time I sign in.

Actually eBay can see what device I am using, so that message is in "error"; I always take it to mean  "we were unable to track your every internet movement since you last logged in so we are going to hassle you into compliance." Maybe I'm paranoid, but I just ignore it regardless.

Re: Adding Devices and Account Security

If you clear cookies every time, I suspect eBay will see you as a new device every time you try to log in.

Likely if you are using a VPN with a server in a different country then where you live or switch a lot same result.

If your ISP gives you a different IP address every time you log in also same result.

So chek some of your settings. I am not sure this work but maybe setting up two factor authentication will help as well
