ID and Value?

I'm helping an elderly couple clear out their house so they can move into something smaller.  They have this, and I adore it..  but I am unsure of what it is..or what its value may be.  Any help would be great!  Its the only thing like it they have...  about 6 inches long, and 3-4 inches high...

@dracoskip Wish this board had more activity, I'm pretty new to rocks and minerals and others here hopefully will see this and comment. Looks like quartz surrounded by other rock.

I'm new to this group as of Aug 22. Waiting on a call from eBay for help.
Nice large photo, detail is lacking, but best guess,
the white mineral looks like rock quartz.
