return label tracking number is not recognized

hi eBay community.

i had to return item for seller. ebay gave me a return label.

i've printed it and put on box. then dropped it at USPS.

i want to add tracking numbers to return details and iget error "tracking number is not recognized".

no matter what i choose, UPSP or OTHER, i get same error.

please tell me what to do?

eBay issued the label, so eBay already has that tracking number, and is watching for it to move. If you go back to your return details page, you'll see that eBay has begun tracking your return.

You only need to add a tracking number @kutaiseli13 if you bought your own label to ship the return.

USPS return label tracking numbers all start with 9302 (I believe). It appears your number starts with 9382, which could explain why it's not being recognized.

I had this exact issue happen to me recently. I had to call eBay's support team. They were able to see the tracking number on their end and open a case to get it resolved. There must be some bug with their labels.

what number did you call for the support team?  I'm having the same issue.  And ebay emailed me today saying I still need to update the tracking info but I used their label AND it was delivered to the seller today. ugh

you should message the seller of the tracking to have it on records and they will do the right thing as long as you message them!

also you can contact ebay support and they will update it on there end,

so i had the same issue , i was reading this treat and let it be since "ebay have the tracking number of the label they provide "  so i sent my item back seller is unresponsive he receive the item , case never update with ebay tracking label ,  CASE GOT CLOSE by ebay since they never receive the tracking in favor of the seller ( seller have my money and item ) . so i lost my money no refund . no one to contact so i open a dispute thru my credit card and got closed as well , so in short i lost lot of money.

I had this happened and chewed people out providing them with their tracking number and that it was ebay's label and that there system would not allow it to be manually added due to a coding error that don't see USPS tracking codes with the 2 digit check digit to be uploaded and my case that had been decided in a nefarious sellers favor was reversed and I got my money back.  Be a pitbull and flip tables and it will go your way.  Just cannot take the path of least resistance.

Even if it's uncalled for or royally mailed @yasminnkhalid-7 try adding a digit zero ahead of your return tracking number to get eBay to recognize it.

For example, if the tracking number is 12345, try entering 012345 instead, and eBay should start showing its progress. Did it work?

Thank you so much for this tip! eBay finally recognised my royal mail tracking number after I added a 0 before it. Not sure if they will still track the correct item but fingers crossed this helps speed up the returns process!

This was the only thing that worked for me. Weird, but easier than contacting customer support.
