I purchased a brand new top from a 100% positive feedback. top arrived, However, it was an outlet top. The top was a name brand top second quality. was not described as a defective top or second quality. only new. when the top arrived, the button hole was sewn shut on the second button. i asked for a refund for inaccurate description of top, seller does not accept refunds or returns.
I decided to post negative feedback. Seller has Neutral and Negative buttons grayed out and only allows positive feedback on his page.
Tried to contact ebay for resolution and they do not respond. What happened to protecting buyers and honest feedback. I have been on ebay since ebay started. I will be closing my account.

Per eBay's Money Back Guarantee (which every buyer should read BTW), if a buyer receives an item that is not as described, that buyer has 30 days to open an ITEM NOT AS DESCRIBED CASE with eBay.
After opening the case, the seller will be required to send that buyer a prepaid return label or to reimburse the buyer in advance for the cost of return shipping.
Once the item is received back by the seller, the seller is required to refund the buyer in full.
There are sometimes occasions when the buyer balks at that, in which case eBay will refund the buyer from the seller's funds and tell the buyer to just keep the item.
So, although eBay DOES offer a solution to the buyer, you have had one bad experience and you will be closing out your account? OK then.

File a Not as Described case.
MBG is for buyers. You should read it.
The seller will then either refund you OR provide a label to return the item. Once received the seller will refund you.
FYI - The seller can NOT allow on positive FB or gray out buttons.
eBay does sometimes require the buyer to wait before leaving FB, but it is not up to the seller.
Someone whos been here since eBay started should know about the MBG and how to use it.

Hi...it seems to me you are 'missing a step' here...
you should be able to easily enter a return request for item not as desribed and the seller would need to respond....
there is no need to contact ebay...... once you do that..it is all automated......
if the seller ignores you, you get a refund and get to keep the top (4 days wait i think)
if the seller replies (like they should) you have to return the item (in the same condition received) before you get your refund.....seller supplies you a return label
either way you will get your money back.....

eBay blocks negative and neutral feedback for up to 7 days when the seller is Top Rated so you and the seller can work things out. Using MBG as a previous poster suggested.
Apparently your knee jerk reaction was to leave positive feedback with negative comment of which the seller can have removed and you get an a report against your account for using feedback improperly. But since you say you are closing your account being reported for improper use of feedback would be moot.

So what you actually did was post positive feedback with negative comments. (Like you've done before.) For what it's worth, you have to wait several days (with some sellers) to leave a negative comment. I thought that information was shown when a buyer goes to leave feedback. Did you not have notice that it was too soon to leave bad feedback?

Buyers do get a message that says “ You are about to leave Negative feedback we suggest you work things out with the seller. You can leave feedback in 7 days“ it may not be the exact wording but it close to what I remember seeing.

I thought the verbiage was even clearer... "You cannot leave negative feedback for this seller for 7 days", or some such. I don't have anything that I can check it on, but I thought I remembered it that way... 🤔
Do you remember if there was a notice before you left the positive? Could you have waited a bit? Truly curious...

For not as described refunds you have to open an official case, not ask the seller for a refund... it seems like you asked them. You typically get 30 days to open a case.
