THANK YOU MESSAGE TO COMMUNITY

Happy holidays everyone.

This week I had a frustrating problem with a return I was forced to accept (it was buyers remorse - it was not "defective" at all.)  This week several Community members were kind and most respectful, and together with finding some other posts I found searching where some truly wise advice was given, I found "peace" to a large extent.

I never listed more than 10-12 items at a time, but lost both my parents in 2017-2020, and my basement is filled with an overwhelming amount of items.  It struck me that I've got a ton of my own things that I don't really need anymore, use, and knowing our day might be up tomorrow, I figured I should clear out my own loot.  It's overwhelming.  I have to sort valuable from junk, determine value, FMV, clean and test, take photos, then log everything in my spreadsheet with photo/item cross-reference.

Today is a new day.  I am working on organizing a wave of listings.  It hit me: if it weren't for eBay, despite all the frustration, I wouldn't have a clue what to do with much of this stuff.  My father's diecast cars and other collectibles?  Swap meets are the best bet, but I've done a hundred helping my dad, and HATE them.

But what does my spreadsheet show?  It shows that since I began slowly listing items 14 months ago I've made a net profit just under $4,300.  Today I'm listing 25-40 items which are the higher value tier.  I'm not getting rich - but when the majority of items are sold and I hopefully have netted $10k...that $30 return freak-out looks mighty foolish.

So thanks everyone.  Feel free to cite this if someone freaks out and posts about it...which WILL happen!

Sorry for your loss.  Hang in there.  Little by little, the funds do add up.  Goodluck.  I am a diecast collector. If you need help in identifying cars, send me an email.   Virtually all diecast cars have some value even if they are chipped or missing wheels.  Those cars become donor cars for the folks that restore the older cars.  Goodluck.

I'm glad you have decided to use eBay to sell your items. I did very well selling vintage Lesney diecast vehicles with the boxes. I look at selling here like a job and I'm the boss and can choose my own hours and can list when I feel like it. Or not.

Mom and Dad would be proud you didn't  take everything to the dump because some children do that. I have one daughter I know will do that when I die.
