Hi, I purchased an item from a local Seller who shipped me the item. I now want to return the item (permitted under Seller’s terms), but because I am responsible for shipping costs, I’d like to drop it off at the Seller’s location in person. The Seller is ok with this. Is there a way to handle this through eBay’s returns process? It seems like - when I open a return - eBay is forcing me to purchase a shipping label which I don’t want/need. Thank you.

You don’t need eBay’s help if the seller refunds you at the time you hand over the item.
If you think the seller might renege on the refund … you will have to provide tracking information in order to PROVE that the item was delivered back to the seller.

No way to do this; if returning in person, seller should just refund in person and you should not even bother 'opening' a return case as sounds like that will only complicate things.

Yeah, unless they do it out of the goodness of their heart you won't be doing it that way.

@donalkacma-0 If you choose to use the return system on eBay than you are forced to follow the procedures, which requires a shipping label in order to track the return. There is no way to circumvent the return system. However, if you feel confident the seller will refund you, then your only other option is to drop off the item in person and accept the return in cash from the seller. Those are your only two options. Best of luck to you....

Thanks to all who replied! I met up with the seller today and returned it in person, and he initiated the refund through the eBay seller tools/options on the spot. I saw the confirmation on his phone, although it took about 5 mins to get the refund notification in my eBay account. So it can be done, but only outside of the normal process as was said here, and the best advice is to get confirmation that the refund was initiated before you part with your item.
thanks again eBay community!

I am curious about whether you opened a formal 'return request'.
And if you did NOT open a return request ... if eBay returns the tax money you paid, which usually comes shortly after the seller's refund.
