I sold a computer that became defective. The buyer opened a case, but it was past 45 days so the case was closed. I decided to attempt to repair it for them and promised I'd refund 2/3 if I was unsuccessful. I was unable to fix it. What I want to do is refund through Ebay and get credit for the fees (it s been about 70 days since the purchase), but since they opened a case and now it's closed, that option is gone. Will Ebay reopen the case so I can refund the buyer through Ebay? They certainly have no incentive to do so, but is this something they will do?

eBay won't reopen a closed case, but you can still issue the refund. Find the order in your Seller Hub/Orders/Paid and shipped. Use the drop-down menu next to the order to 'Send refund'. Enter the amount you'd like to send your buyer, Confirm and Submit.
I think you'll be credited the FVFs associated with the partial refund. Good luck. >> Fee credits | eBay

Thanks so much for responding. Your directions worked and I got a fee credit.
