Refund/Return

Hello,

I recently purchased a backup hard drive in order to backup my current laptop, so I can transfer data to my new laptop. When I plugged it into my laptop, I received an error message (and more error messages as I followed the unfortunate path of events which followed afterward).

I concluded that this item is not compatible with my laptop. I no longer care about this, so this is not the reason for my message here. I went back to the original page of the listing and noticed that the Seller does not accept returns. So I took some pictures of the error messages and contacted eBay, asking for help (I.e. a refund). After eBay looked into this, they evidently accepted my request for a refund. I have been refunded the amount I paid to the Seller. But there's only one problem now. I am unsure if the Seller was involved in any way at all in this.

Did the money come out of the Seller's pocket for this refund? And if so why hasn't the Seller contacted me to grumble about this. I am thinking that the Seller must not even be aware of this situation. And if this is the case, do I need to return the hard drive to the Seller? If I don't need to return it, I will be happy to keep it and either try selling it myself, or simply give it to someone who actually CAN use it.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Re: Refund/Return

You wont hear from the seller and you can bet the seller was charged for the refund. The main thing is your whole now so find a H D that will work with your computer.

Re: Refund/Return

If you never opened a return case and contacted eBay in another way, eBay provided you a courtesy refund out of eBay's pocket.

Re: Refund/Return

The case is closed. Either seller paid for refund or eBay did.

I actually bought one of those things at an Apple Store. It worked but I found it to be a waste of money and it sits somewhere in my computer junk dresser years later.

Why not list it and offer it to the OP. Sounds like he is looking for one. Just a thought.

Re: Refund/Return

Thank you all so much for your responses. I had to resort to this Community because there appears to be absolutely NO conceivable way to contact eBay ------ unless the matter falls within one of their predefined menu options ------ which this one obviously does not.

But I appreciate your help and assistance nevertheless.
