Possible new scam.

I think I posted the last one in the wrong place.

recently I sold a OOP sealed omnibus and shipped it the next day. The day I got the text confirming it was delivered, all the trouble started. I got a message through eBay from the buyer saying he didn’t receive anything despite it saying it was delivered. Then he opened a “Item Not Received Request” saying he DID receive something but it was an “empty envelope” with nothing inside. He posted a picture of an empty envelope with the shipping label shoddily taped to the front of it.

I shipped out a BOX. I bought tape from the postal office and taped it in front of the clerk. Because it was Media Mail she even asked if there were books inside. I told her only one. She wouldn’t have asked if it was just an empty envelope. I’m sure there’s video footage of me doing this. There was even the weight on the shipping label that clearly says it weighed 11 lbs.

so I thought because it was delivered and I did everything I was suppose to they’d rule in my favor. Before the 3 business days were up, he closed the case and said it was resolved. He the opened a new case saying he wanted a refund.

i don’t do refunds so i was shocked when I couldn’t decline. I guess eBay has a money back guarantee. We waited and as soon as I could, I asked them to step in. I provided all the evidence and information I had and even provided the picture and highlighted the tracking number and weight on the picture he took. Not even an hour went by and they ruled in his favor.

so now, he’s going to ship back an EMPTY ENVELOPE and I have to pay him for it. I’m gonna it my OOP book and I’m out the money. I’m extremely angry. This seems like the PERFECT new SCAM.

they buy an order, they get the item and rip off the shipping label, slap it on an empty envelope, take a picture and say “Hey eBay, this is what he sent me” and despite it being totally false, they rule in their favor. And if by some miracle, he was innocent and actually didn’t get his item, I truly am sorry…. But that shouldn’t be MY fault when I have all the evidence to prove I did everything I was suppose to and then some

Just to be clear -- when the buyer opened up the "item not received" case, did you ACTUALLY re-enter the tracking information on the form which eBay emailed to you -- or did you ignore it, and assume that eBay would find in your favor, since, as you stated, "I thought because it was delivered and I did everything I was suppose to they’d rule in my favor."

If you did NOT enter the tracking number on the complaint form, then eBay would find the case in favor of the buyer.  Or, if you did nothing after 3 days, the buyer could have opened up a "Not As Described" case against you -- which is what it sounds like -- which the buyer usually wins.

So walk us EXACTLY through ALL the steps that you took, upon FIRST receiving the "item not received" case -- and don't "assume" that eBay KNOWS what's going on.

Re: Possible new scam.

I wonder why eBay asks for a photo 'documentation' from the buyer.

The actual item sold is shown above the photo of the item received from the buyer.IMG_0319.JPG

Re: Possible new scam.

Comic books can't be shipped Media Mail.

You never want to get Ebay involved in a return until the item has been returned and buyer refunded.

When the buyer filed an INAD, you needed to accept the return and provide a shipping label.

Have a great day.

An omnibus can. Prestige format, TPBs, and many other short and long form comic books can ship media mail.

You're thinking a monthly floppy with advertising. Those are periodicals. Not all comic books are periodicals though.

Owned a comic book store for over 20 years.

Yes… let’s start off antagonistic. That’s always refreshing.

Yes. I did re-enter the tracking number. I like the fact that you’re acting as if I’m the stupid one for NOT re-entering a tracking number as if that is at all a good business model. That the first conclusion had better be to RE-ENTER the tracking number they already have or else it’s an AUTOMATIC “Well, tough luck buttercup”…

Look… it’s very clear to me you’re either very jaded or just plain old tired of people being upset with eBay (I suppose one should be all smiles in the face of such adversity, huh)… but what’s the point of responding if you don’t want to? You ever ASSUME that “Hey, maybe I don’t have anything productive to contribute here?”

As far as ASSUMING goes, you clearly assume eBay can do no wrong and it’s most certainly on my end. eBay management material, if I do say so myself.

Suffice it to say, your response doesn’t exactly make me feel like going through a step-by-step with you. I’ll take my chances.

"Yes… let’s start off antagonistic. That’s always refreshing."

Really?  Is THAT how you interpreted my questions???

You only show a feedback of "6", which is indicative of a newer eBay seller/buyer who may not be aware of how "item not received" and "not as described" cases play out.

But your insulting rant against me is not rational -- and other eBay sellers and buyers who have read my previous posts over the past 13 years can confirm that I am NO eBay "cheerleader," and that I regularly call out eBay for their policy lapses.

BBL.

Re: Possible new scam.

I had a buyer with Cayman Island address with PO Box, they bought very expensive prints and since it was a PO Box I couldn't ship it insured, fortunately. They just had a Ltd company name and wouldn't give me and personal name as a contact, which I needed for DHL to get a shipping quote. They had one feedback 2 years old and they were based in Canada but had a Cayman Island shipping address, big red flag! The company was some kind of concergy staff for rich people, like butlers, masseuses, personal assistants, etc. I canceled the order. Bottom line is don't ship expensive items to international po boxes, they are not insurable. The big red flag was they didn't want to give me a personal name as a c/o reciever, I guess they were afraid of getting caught.

The sad news is that I tried for an hour to report them for fraud on ebay, but apparently you can no longer report faudulant buyers, if you do know a link let me know.  All the links and phone number I found just gave referred me back to the ebay help pages, so I gave up.

Re: Possible new scam.

It's the on line form of five finger discount.  Better yet, there is no risk of being perp walked to the mall's security office.

Yes.. that is how I took it. When someone is CONSTANTLY over enunciating words with all CAPS and saying things like “maybe don’t ASSUME that eBay is going to rule in your favor”

One TENDS to feel like they’re being talked down to. Now, I could’ve and you're further indicating to me that, I read the situation wrong. I won’t like to you, this has been a stressful situation and I could’ve entirely overreacted. I’m sure I did.

I don’t know how much I actually believed that posting this would lead to a solution and it was more venting from the frustration of the situation. Which, not my best moment. So I apologize.
