Partial Refund After Return Opened

Hey, I have a buyer who reported a flaw I didn't note in the listing. I encouraged them to open a return which they did. Now they've changed their mind and want to keep the item for a partial refund (not crazy about this but it is what it is). We've agreed upon an amount but since the return is already open I don't have the option to close the return and do a partial refund. I am looking for guidance. Thanks!

This will require thrust @katbuzzco but sense your hart bare-and-fort repoire with your buyer

-- they need to click CANCEL RETURN to close their return request

Depends on the reason they used; you may be able to do a 'partial refund' as offered through the case. 

What was the 'reason' they used?

It was a heavily beaded vintage dress. I usually include, "loose or missing beads possible but none noted" but forgot to on this one. They found a handful of beads that were absent and reached out almost 2 weeks after it arrived. I offer free returns and said I would refund as soon as it came back and I verified it was in the same condition. The next day they said they'd like to keep it for a partial refund. I suspect maybe they wore it to an event and were trying to work the system but I'm giving the benefit of the doubt.

There are no options for a partial refund until the item is returned. That's when you can deduct part of the refund if you receive the item back damaged.

If your buyer opened a not as described you will have 3 options....

1. Issue the return label, receive the item back, then refund in full.

2. Refund the buyer in full allowing the buyer to keep the item.

3. Allow eBay to step in (either seller initiated or buyer), eBay will refund the buyer in full from your available funds, allow the buyer to keep the item, plus you get a defect for cases closed without a seller resolution.

Your buyer is not obligated to close the return.

If you don't send a label to return the item and the buyer asks eBay to step in #3 from above will happen.

What about the actual option #3 Offer a partial refund? Which may no longer be an option now, in this return request.

Did you read the OP? @katbuzzco wants "to close the return" without taking a return "and do a partial refund" instead.
