Offering Partial Refunds

Hi all,

I am a new seller on a separate account.

All is going well and I'm trying to get ready for holiday sales and also thinking more about  returns so I'll be prepared for the inevitable request I'll get at some point.

In reading thru forums, I've run across the concept of offering partial refunds in specific (and IMO only rare) circumstances where it makes sense to do so.

I see there's a lot strong opinions, (many con) on the subject.

I have a thought and wonder if anyone's had experience with this:

If a seller does this, it's entirely possible that the buyer, in trying to HELP, could mention how "nice this seller was to give me a partial refund".

Yikes. Doesn't that make the seller shark-bait for scammers?

I'd be curious to know if any of you have had experiences with this such as

a) no one's ever mentioned it in the feedback.
b) yes that's why I don't ever do it
c) people have mentioned it in the fb but its caused no problems.... etc.

Whatever has been your experience. Thanks in advance! 🙂

Offering Partial Refunds

If I buy a DVD movie from the U.K. and the case ends up breaking in shipping, sometimes I'll ask for a $2.50 partial refund so I can just buy a replacement case for the movie and save the seller from having to pay return shipping to another country to get the movie back. If they want to pay for me to send it all the way back to them that's perfectly fine too in my opinion. It's just whatever the seller prefers to do.

Thanks for your input! That's a good point about it being useful in the case of a missing or damaged part. I will definitely keep that in mind.
