Coupon Scam

I recently tried to purchase a set of tires that cost $800 plus, the promotion at the time was 20% off all items $500.00 or more but the promo code didn’t work, so I contacted the seller & they assured me that those item I was buying did qualify for the discount. They informed to contact eBay customer service so I did, the customer service rep couldn’t get the code to work either but assured me that they would honor the discount even it the promotion period ends before they get the issue rectified. I contacted them again because they never got back to me, the rep this time said she would have to escalate it up & have an urgent attached to it. Needless to say that it’s been 3 weeks & the promotion period has expired and still not a word from eBay. Has this ever happened to anyone?

Coupon Scam

I have only used a promo code a few times and they always worked. One of the codes was the kind I had to manually type in and the others were the kind from the seller's page where the deductions were already in the price showing.

Did you already buy the tires hoping to get the discount honored afterwards, or are you still waiting to buy them with the expired code?

Coupon Scam

Hi

I was able to get a courtesy discount, it was not as much as the initial offer but it was better than nothing.

Those promos have conditions out the wazoo.  I have never gotten one to work.  I had one two weeks ago.  It required you to pay with an Apple pay AP.

Coupon Scam

EBAY is currently running a "LABORDAYOFF" coupon SCAM.

At the very top of a desired item listing - displayed in RED - is an offer for 20% off.

EBAY will NOT honor the discount on the vast majority of those items purchased with the intention of qualifying for the discount. They FINEPRINT out almost all, by hiding exclusions in obscure URL's at the end

of links you have to follow.

A prime example of NO ethics, NO morals marketing from your consequence free corporation.

EBAY intentionally deceives by offering - in RED - a discount on perhaps MILLIONS of items.

While at the same time they KNOW only perhaps a few hundred items will actually qualify for the discount.

Coupon Scam

I just figured out this was a disgusting scam; I wish I had read this comment first. I tried to make a $12 purchase, a "Buy It Now" dvd.  $12, well withing the $500 limit, and the dvd item as well has no restrictions.  These coupons NEVER work, this is just a bait to get people to buy stuff.  I am so disgusted by this; even legitimate companies are scamming people now.  What a World...

@dream_of_nuredin, there aren't any DVDs included in the current Labor Day coupon event.

These coupons are not eligible on ordinary items because many sellers can't afford to give a 20% discount on all their items. Only sellers who agree to accept the discounted price can participate, because eBay doesn't cover the discount, the sellers have to. Of course, this means that the original price of any item that is eligible, has been set so that the seller can afford to give a 20% discount.
