Sold a $25 item and hours after shipping it out, buyer messaged me for cancelation and threatens to refuse delivery if I don't.
I inform buyer it's too late, and instruct them open a return case upon delivery. And I even send them a prepaid return shipping label for convenience.
Fast forward, the buyer refuses the delivery attempt and same day opens a eBay Return Case — Reason: "Changed my mind" and Comment: "Item sent back already".
Item just got delivered back to me today. But since buyer refused delivery, the return case is still waiting for him to ship back the item.
I understand refusing delivery violates the buyer's Money Back Guarantee. But I'm unsure of how to proceed and handle this scenario. Any guidance?
Thanks in advance.

Can you contact Ebay with a call back and ask them to close the case?

Change my mind is considered a remorse return, and buyer is responsible for shipping, not seller, just so you know. But yes, do get in contact with eBay and ask to close case, submit tracking # and they can clearly see that item was returned. If refunding, I will subtract shipping and eBay fees.

Hi @boutique_parts . It does not matter if the return says it's waiting for the buyer to ship the item back. You have an option on the return to issue a refund immediately and that's what I would do.
Just last week I got a return from a buyer that purchased their own label outside of eBay, so that tracking did not show on the return request. I was able to go in and refund the buyer in full despite the "waiting for buyer to ship" status.
If you can't find the option to refund through the return, come back to let us know.
