within the last few days, I am constantly prompted to verify myself with the stupid captcha picture thing. I see this "test" several times a day whenever I log in or answer a message, create a listing or purchase something. It's getting old fast.
Any ideas of this new development? I am using an old Dell with XP, so I'm obsolete already but this constant verification process is a new, extra aggravating waste of time.

you are not the only one being asked, its rather annoying.
I was asked today.
eBay needs to stop this nonsense & inconveniences . for safety reason? but Using a bot to verify that we are not a bot isnt helpful. There are new bots can read & verify pictures. --such AI bots have been used to guide the blind.

thanks for the reply, if it's happening to others it's not my computer acting up.
Super aggravating, before I can try to log in, I get the challenge, then if I get lucky and get past the gatekeeper in only a couple attempts, after I login successfully, I GET CHALLENGED AGAIN.
Today, I left several windows open after jumping through all the hoops, and not as many challenges were offered.
So somehow it seems to be related to saving cookies or whatnot.
In defense of eBay, I am now having to obtain One Time Passwords from Amazon every time I use that site. Just as irritating.
Hope we can figure it out.

Thanks, that's a lotta policies/policies/policies... but did not see anything about challenging a user just by logging in
been here 20 years, Old-Phart member, Paypal founding member, done 10,000 transactions under several user IDs.
Why do I get a robot challenge before I can even log in? And after too?

What does your theory lead to? Is your reply (in what you explained) supposed to give a further perception of how Ebay sets its goals? and/or Why Ebay chooses to not do what Ebay not wants to do (to its corporate self, nor to Ebay customers).

Verification is typically used to prevent bots from attempting to sign in to your account -- by proving that you can recognize images you demonstrate that you are not a bot.
eBay has recently changed the sign-in process, and added extra verification steps. Sometimes when eBay changes the sign-in process, it causes problems for some users; sometimes those problems are due to using an old browser or obsolete cookies, but not always. Some users are just annoyed by verification; while others actually get stuck in a loop that just keeps presenting new sign-in pages or new verification pages.
If you are having issues signing in or getting stuck in a loop or stuck with a verification page that does not work, here are my general sign-in tips and recommendations.
Make sure you are allowing the sign-in page to load completely before attempting to sign in -- others have indicated that attempting to sign in before the page has loaded can cause problems.
Make sure your browser is set to accept cookies, or try another browser. If you delete your cookies, you will likely have to sign in and go through verification again. Some browsers seem to require more verification than others; try signing in and out more than once to see if it requires verification the second time around. Make sure your browser allows javascript. VPNs can also cause sign-in issues, so try disabling yours if you use one.
If you get a verification slider puzzle that has no background, there are three options below the slider -- close the pop-up, reload the pop-up, or try an alternative audio version that requires entering numbers that are read aloud.
If you still have problems, when you get to a sign-in page again, delete everything in the URL after the .dll part, so that the address looks like this:
https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Then hit 'enter' to load that page -- that should give you the old pre-Facebook sign-in. Once you have signed in there, if eBay gives you another new sign-in page or verification page, click on the eBay logo to go to the main page, and you should be signed in at that point, at least until eBay changes things again.
In addition to the "keep me signed in" checkbox on the sign-in page, there is another checkbox in your account site preferences -- it might be worth checking that setting, or unchecking, saving, rechecking and saving again. That is, if you want to stay signed in and avoid having to go through verification.

Hey X75, I have been here about as long and the sign in song is getting very old such as my patience with ebay.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I could only get to this discussion using MS7/IE in Safe Mode Networking.
All I got in regular mode was sign in ~ sign in ~ sign in
Same with selling and print shipping labels that I have to print at pay pal with no sign in issues. I am loading pictures in the browse box:

eBay has changed the sign-in process since my previous message in this thread was posted. The old method of deleting everything after the .dll in the sign-in URL no longer sends you to the old sign-in page, unfortunately. Here are some updated recommendations to try if you are encountering sign-in problems.
How are you signing in? Using a bookmark? If so, you may need to update it.
If you go to the ebay.com page and use the sign-in link it will send you here:
https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn
Almost all of the sign-in links I have seen send you to the same page, or an alternate page that looks the same:
https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn2
or possibly this:
https://www.ebay.com/signin/?sgn=reg&siteid=0
This older link worked better until recently, but eBay has updated things so that this link now points to the current page at the top link:
https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Try each of those links to see if one of these links works better for you; if so, bookmark the link for future use and please follow up to let others know, as many other users are having difficulty signing in recently.
Do not give up immediately if you get a second verification page, in some cases you may need to get through two puzzle sliders or a puzzle plus one or two obfuscated number entries to sign in.
Other things that can interfere with signing in:
Sometimes when eBay changes the sign-in process, it causes problems for some users; sometimes those problems are due to using an old browser or obsolete cookies (though not always). Some users are just annoyed by verification; while others actually get stuck in a loop that just keeps presenting new sign-in pages or new verification pages, or just will not let them sign in at all.
Make sure you are allowing the sign-in page to load completely before attempting to sign in -- users have indicated that attempting to sign in before the page has loaded can cause problems.
Make sure your browser is set to accept cookies. Try another browser or another device, or a private or incognito browser session. If you delete your cookies, you will likely have to sign in and go through strict verification again. Some browsers seem to require more verification than others; try signing in and out more than once to see if it requires verification the second time around.
Make sure your browser allows javascript:
https://www.whatismybrowser.com/detect/is-javascript-enabled
VPNs can also cause sign-in issues, so try disabling yours if you use one.
If you get a verification slider puzzle that has no background, there are three options below the slider -- close the pop-up, reload the pop-up, or try an alternative audio version that requires entering numbers that are read aloud.
If you are able to sign in, to stay signed in there is a "keep me signed in" checkbox on the sign-in page, but there is another checkbox in your account site preferences -- it might be worth checking that setting, or unchecking, saving, rechecking and saving again. That is, if you want to stay signed in and avoid having to go through verification.
If you have multiple accounts and must sign in and out to switch, consider using a dedicated browser for each account to minimize signing in and out. A private or incognito browser session is handy if you just need to check another account without signing out of your current account.
If you have successfully signed in using Google or Facebook before, try that again -- the sign in process using those may have different dependencies and may work better for you. But if you have not signed in using those before make sure you do not accidentally create a new eBay account when you attempt to sign in.
If you get really stuck, try signing in to ebay.ca or ebay.co.uk or using the eBay app on your phone -- that may allow you to do most non-listing or non-selling related activities.

eburtonlab,
ebay has admitted that these glitches are theirs.
Hoop jumping advise is getting old.
ebay rep told me up to another 2 weeks before this sign in mess is cleaned up.
