ebay keeps wanting to verify javascript

For the last several days I keep getting the following message when I go to log into ebay. The browser never reloads automatically and I never get the pop up to confirm. I have to reload manually but there is no pop up to confirm.
Message:
Validating JavaScript Engine

eBay requires that all visitors be running JavaScript. This page is validating your browser's JavaScript engine and functionality.

Your web browser will automatically reload shortly and you will receive a pop-up asking you to confirm your form submission again. Confirming the form submission again will allow you to continue to visit eBay without further incident.

If the page doesn't automatically attempt to reload, please do so manually.

ebay keeps wanting to verify javascript

I ran into that one time in one browser. Reloading the page took care of whatever the issue was (not sure what eBay is trying to do with that but I did have the browser in a n unstable state - I think i has deleted cookies and disable JavaScript while testing something out.)

Clear cache and cookies, restart browser, and try again.

What browser are you using on what OS? Running Noscript, Adblock, or other privacy addons that might be blocking things? Incognito or private browsing modes?

I'm using the latest firefox browser, windows 7. I have Adblock Plus. I will try deleting the cookies and clearing the cache and see if that helps.

Good.

If that doesn't work, try disabling Adblock Plus temporarily when logging in. (possible it is blocking something that triggers it).

Like I said, I ran into it one time, my browser was in an abnormal state (from testing something else), and once I reconfigured the browser and reloaded the page the JavaScript warning went away and haven't seen it since. So am uncertain if it is a new development (probably) or only happened due to my changes in the browser (blocking scripts, cookies, etc)

Since it appears to be some sort of browser capability detection, it likely isn't account related, and would possibly be recorded in cookies (when browser passes whatever the test a cookie is set that indicates that it doesn't need to be checked again, but just guessing as I only had it occur once.
If I get some round tuits I may try to replicate the failure to see what's going on.

Also Keep getting the same JavaScript message in endless loops.  I created a new account today and am trying to add my address, but can’t get passed this message. Every time I enter my address, it loops back to this same message.

What browser are you using?

To rule out browser issues, it might make sense to try a different browser and see if that avoids the javascript problem. If so, you may be able to use some of the techniques mentioned in this thread to get your old browser working again.

If this is happening specifically on the sign in page, try this alternate link instead:

https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll

I notice both of you are registered in Italy -- you may have better results signing in to ebay.it instead of the US ebay.com site.

If the javascript message keeps coming up, try another browser to see if the issue is with your browser.

If you actually do intend to use the ebay.com site, try this sign-in link:

https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll

Using the ebay.com login doesn't solve the problem indeed: I can login without any weird javascript message, but then, if I try for example to modify an existing auction, the website forces me to login in ebay.it and the problem arises again...

I can confirm I have this issue with Firefox only, nevertheless it's the only website showing it...

Confirmed behaviour. Log in With EBAY:COM works without Javascript countless loop going to nothing. (At least I can check my account now with same browser as before). Seems related to the domain .IT and FIrefox and some configurations. But I checked with Firefox version 60 and it ends, during password verification, to a 100% CPU Loop lasting 5 or 6 minutes and an unusable browser ,then completely crashed ! Some times it freezing the OS some times it ends the loop and quits. Barely some times it works. Still investigating.........

I've been getting this Validating JavaScript Engine loop problem for just over a week now.

I'm (still) using Windows XP SP3 and running Firefox ESR 52.9.0 (32-bit).  So YES it is an old Windows OS and YES it is an old, though last valid, XP version of Firefox.  BUT it was working fine, allowing me to log into eBay account without any issues or Java challenge with my ID & password, until just recently.

I run NoScript, which I know can restrict/impinge Java but it is deactivated for eBay sites as is ABP, which I also use and also deactivated for eBay sites.

Thankfully I can so far log into my eBay account via Chrome browser (also a no-longer supported version).  I prefer Firefox so would appreciate a fix or work-around.

Clearing the cache and cookies makes no difference, I still get the Java loop.

Also I AM able to login via Firefox to ebay.com, as suggested above, BUT it then notices I am in Australia and it sends me to ebay.com.au and it triggers the Java loop again!

Are you able to sign in to ebay.com.au using this sign-in link?

https://signin.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll

If that does not work, try disabling noscript entirely -- it is possible that javascript is being called by eBay but in a different domain, rather than ebay.com.au itself, to run some sort of anti-bot script.
