I regularly purchase eBay gift cards and have used them during checkout without any issues, until two days ago.
I purchased a new $100 eBay gift card on Saturday and have been attempting to use it since Sunday, but have been repeatedly experiencing the issue detailed below. However, I have been able to use a another eBay gift card with a remaining balance since Sunday, which I have been using for approximately the past month.
1. I go to the eBay checkout...
2. I choose the option to use my PayPal account...
3. I login to my PayPal account...
4. I am now successfully logged in to my PayPal account...
5. I enter my valid and verified balance eBay gift card code and the total amount of my purchase is applied to the gift card balance...
6. I receive the error message "We can't process your payment. Please select a different payment method or check your payment details." and the PayPal payment option is now grayed out with the error message "Unfortunately, you can't pay with this option. Please select a different payment option.", even though I am still logged in to my PayPal account and it is technically only possible to use an eBay gift card with a PayPal account, so it is not possible to use the credit card option in this instance...
7. I nonetheless click on the "Confirm and pay" button and am directed to the following error screen...

Hi @timbart824, it looks like you were able to pay for the items. Can you confirm with me if the issue is now resolved?

brian@ebay , since you stated yesterday you typically are not able to dive into an account to troubleshoot specific account issues, then I am very curious to learn how you would be able to know if I was able to pay for my pending items, or not?
That being said, the basic answer is "yes", I was able to pay for these items yesterday directly from my Purchase History by applying my gift card, but not directly from my cart and this known issue is, therefore, still not resolved. However, if and until you can confirm to me, that your developers/tech team have 100% resolved my initial gift card issue, then "no", I would absolutely not say this issue is resolved. Since it has come and gone and then come and gone again within less than the past two (2) weeks, I have absolutely zero confidence it will not rear its ugly head again in the near future and can only chalk up the ability to pay to some sort of random divine intervention both times.
Unfortunately, during the period I have been experiencing these issues I have not attempted to purchase any additional items, for fear of not being able to pay for them, and have missed out on some items I really was interested in purchasing. Ironically, I also received a 2-day eBay Bucks discount offer, which expired yesterday and for which I was not able to take advantage of, due to these issues. Moving forward, I am absolutely leery of purchasing anything else, whatsoever, indefinitely.
In regard to your last comments from yesterday, I do not use so-called "social media", so this is not a viable option for me to contact CS. However, in reading many of the posts on the Community boards and your comments, I do find the attempts to steer members to this option very interesting, yet also somewhat discriminatory to those of us, who have no interest in "social media".
What I also find discriminatory and in regard to most of the eBay Bucks discount offers I receive, however not the most recent one, is the discount rate for so-called "In-App" purchases is higher than for a normal website purchase. For reference, I also have absolutely no use for the eBay App, or any other App for that matter, and exclusively use the eBay website for all transactions.
Although I have a litany of other grievances with eBay, which have become exponentially increasing in the recent past, I will not take up any more of our mutual time and step down from my soapbox for the time being. Suffice it to say, it would behoove your developers/tech team to cease and desist constantly attempting to reinvent a perfectly round wheel, in the name of "improvement", and just leave well enough alone, so eBay would go back to the wonderful thing it was, when I first signed up as both a buyer and a seller 14+ years ago. Many times, when something is changed, it causes more issues, most of which are aggravating nuisances and for which I can implement my own workaround, but not with this current issue...this is nothing but sheer, unadulterated nonsense.
