I have to assume this is a glitch or a technical issue since it is the only thing that makes sense.
I had a listing with free returns enabled where the original shipping was USPS Ground Advantage. A return was requested and eBay automatically approved the return and generated the return shipping label. Today I received the return and noticed that the eBay generated return label was for USPS Priority. The return shipping charge has not posted to my account yet but I have to assume I will be charged a USPS Priority rate.
I can find no explanation of why the service would have changed. The measurements in the listing were 6" x 6" x 6" and the weight was 4 ounces. Both of these are well below the limits of USPS Ground Advantage. I also had a return two weeks ago with the exact same package weight and measurements that was in the same category, also with free returns. That return label was correctly generated as USPS Ground Advantage.
I spoke with customer service today on and off for about two hours and spoke to seven different reps. None of them could give any information on why the return label was generated as USPS Priority. I was supposedly transferred to a supervisor and someone with the shipping team but I am not sure if that is who I actually spoke with.
Has anyone else experienced this? The return label was generated on February 29th for reference. Maybe some type of leap year coding glitch?
