Not sure if this is where I should ask this, but here we are...
It has been happening at random, but FAR TOO often, that ebay, without giving me a reason other than 'we think we sense unnatural activity on your account', and forcing me to reset my password. It happened today just after I listed an item (for which I was of course signed in) and I tried to go to my selling page. I'm starting to run out of passwords I can remember!
This has repeated at least two dozen times over the last year, with never a sign that there was any untoward activity that I could detect. It got old long ago.
I know ebay doesn't give a chit, but are other people having the same issue? Any ideas on how to avoid/stop it from happening?

Highly irregular! ... two dozen times over the last year,
I have heard of ebay suggesting a password change but not forcing it, except after the 2014 ebay hack.
Are you certain it's ebay you are communicating with?

I don't get a chance to 'communicate with ebay'. I just get frozen out automatically until I change the password, even when I am already signed in to the site with the old one.

Happens to me too. I just posted a similar question. It is very aggravating. You are locked out until you reset the password. Anyone from EBay reading these questions to please answer?

Is there anything odd about your network? Using a VPN? Custom Firewall? Are you doing anything out of the ordinary such as signing in from distant locations, or from multiple locations at the same time?
Perhaps there is something about recent sign-ins to your account that seems suspicious to eBay. If you are not doing anything suspicious, perhaps eBay has noticed someone else trying to get into your account.
See if anything looks out of place here:

Do you have Apple, Facebook or Google accounts linked to your eBay account? It might be worth unlinking -- someone with access to any of those can get into your eBay account if they are linked.

Sounds suspicious. I recently had them send a message requesting I update my info to make sure it's up to date. When I click the link I cannot log in with google log in and I don't trust typing my password in on the web which it takes me to outside of the app. For one thing it's not changed so it's a dumb message. And on top of all that they are making me want to scream about them checking my identity of which I r provided my id and bank statement over 7 days ago for the customer support keeps telling me that I will have to wait for a department they cannot contact to make the decision. Everything is correct. My name on my bank is shortened to Kris from Kristopher but it's the same address and my id is too. There is no reason to hold $220 from now. I've turned down offers I should have taken bcs I don't want to ship items and not get paid. Then they sold an item fir $68 I'd rather not ship without knowing I'm going to get the funds for. Is there any possibility they will steal my earnings? Indefinitely? Are they doing these identity checks to raise capital?

I have the same problem. I can use app no problem. Every time I login to EB on my PC I am then asked to reset pword. I have been with UK version since beginning but this has problem has become so bad I rarely use Ebay. Customer service absolutely no help at all. Even if my phone is less than 20cm from PC it stiill happens! Not made any changes to settings. Updates and security is carried out every day. I don't us the email link but manually go to EB. Don't have this problem with any other buying platform and I am not a seller. Tenpted to close account.

To those who have asked - I only access my account from two computers under my control. Never from a phone or someone else's computer. Both have virus protection and show clean systems.

What happens when you try?

I had this happen to me today, a few hours after making a listing I thought I'd check on it, and was told my account was locked until I reset my password!
I use a relatively private browser that doesn't keep cookies after the tab is closed, so perhaps the frequent logins are an issue?

I’ve just experienced the same from eBay. I use only one device to use eBay . I BUY THINGS. I’m a long serving 100% customer but now, out of the blue, they deny me access to “My EBay” unless I ‘change my account’ ; ‘change my password’ and sign in again even when I’m already signed in! I have advised them more than once that I want to. ‘Stay signed in’. I’m the customer and that’s what suits me. I hope they get the message because I’ve no wish to change anything. Please remember eBay - If it’s not broken, don’t fix it. Apologies to all eBay sellers waiting for my feedback. kentay9902.
