When You Copy and Paste a Message, it Doubles

I copy and paste messages every day to use them as templates and now when I do, every paragraph doubles. I thought someone at ebay should be made aware of this devon@ebay.

I send messages to every customer that buys from me, has a problem with the post office not scanning an acceptance, slow moving mail, etc.

Most often, I thank buyers personally for shopping with us, telling them tracking acceptance sometimes takes time because of my area (NYC), message me with any problems with our service or the product, and I look forward to working with them again. I've done it with every customer I've ever had in my 25 years of retail. It's easier to use the messages I've sent on ebay, for sales here, rather than having them somewhere else. Same with my website, I use the ones on my account rather than somewhere else. It's how I have always done business and my customers very often respond to my messages or comment on it in my feedback. It works for me and always has.

I don't think we have heard from devon@ebay on this problem yet. Further testing indicates that the error is in the Copy stage rather than the Paste stage; the text gets corrupted/duplicated when it is first picked up.

Devon, what is the ALERT number for this case? It would be helpful to merge all the problem reports into one under the same number. Thanks!

devon@ebay : It's within the messaging pane on eBay.com. Copying-and-pasting a chunk of text from one message to another results in the pasted text coming in twice. Specifically, each string of text is duplicated before the next string comes along, so every sentence or paragraph appears twice in order.

For example, I have a basic message that I send to every buyer after their package has been received at the post office. I copy it out of a previous message and paste it into a new one for my latest buyer:

"Thank you! Your package has already gone out. You should be receiving your USPS.com tracking number in your purchase details from eBay. Let me know if you have any questions!

Regards,"

[my name here]

As of about two weeks ago, this copy-and-paste malfunction was introduced, and now this happens:

Hi again, devon@ebay. Here are the Steps to Reproduce for this bug, with screenshots:

1. Copy an existing paragraph of text from any existing message, such as this dialogue with another buyer below. The selected text has been highlighted via click-and-drag, followed by Ctrl+C to copy into the text buffer:
   
2. Now go to the new message pane where you want to deposit the copied text:
   
3. Click in the "Send message" field to set the cursor, then press Ctrl+V to paste in the buffered text, and it all goes in twice:
   
4. Just to be clear, the duplication occurs with each text string one at a time, not by putting in the whole buffered lump twice. So we see Paragraph 1 appearing twice, and then Paragraph 2 ("Regards,") appears twice, and so on:
   

I cannot think of anything more to add here in order to spell out how the bug occurs. It's very reproducible and should be a quick repair. I don't think this has been happening for more than 2-3 weeks at most, so I'm hoping that it's possible to track down whoever messed up the coding revisions and have them fix it sooner rather than later.
