Watch List bugs

Have some Watch List functionalities changed again recently (from June/July 2023 onwards)? Two new problems occur:

1. When items in one of your Watch Lists end, they are then (sometimes or always?) being auto-removed from the watchlist.

This is annoying as buyers use their various watchlists to compare the price previous similar items sold for or to see other comparisons of differences between similar items, as well as track completely new relistings vs the older listing of the same item by the same seller.

2. Cannot add ended items to watchlists anymore?

Again annoying, as you find historical ended listings via search, and want to add to a watchlist to compare later, or to compare to a newer live listing in future. While the item page shows as being added to X watchlist, when checking the actual watchlist itself they are not on the list?!

What the flipping hell is going on. Why on earth would Ebay remove these most basis of features, helping to making the tracking of potential purchases almost impossible to do now?

These surely have to be bugs. (it would be moronic if they there were features.)

EDIT: I'll add some screen shots below to help explain the bugs.

Watch List bugs

Here's an item that's ended, as an example of the bug.

1. On item page, add item to Want List "test", it shows as in "test":

Untitled.jpg

2. Click "test" at the top,  to go to that list: nothing there(!):

Untitled 1.jpg

3. Click back button in the browser, item page shows no indication of being in "test":

If that's not a bug, then I don't know what is!

Are we supposed to expect Ebay responses to our reports here?

If not, then what is the point of using this "Report eBay Technical Issues" Ebay forum in the first place?

No.

This is a good place to look for reports from users about problems; to share workarounds, tips, and best practices; or to ask or answer questions of other users.

From time to time there will be announcements from eBay folks, but that is not something that happens after most posts.

Out of the last fifty threads on this board, I count three that have responses from eBay.

eburtonlab:  No

Sorry confused here, which is it: No we don't get responses from Ebay to advise our problem is a bug, or yes we do get responses?

Are you seeing this same problem with Want Lists?

You should not expect a response to your post from eBay.

The numbers I provided suggest that if you posted fifty threads, you could reasonably expect that forty seven of those would not be responded to by an eBay employee at all. Three threads might receive a response at some point.

If those numbers are representative, about six percent of recent threads on this particular board get a response from an eBay employee.

I am also currently unable to add ended items to my Watch List, but it appears to me that ended items remain on my watch list for ninety days until the listing is removed from the site by eBay just as has happened in the past, at least as far as I can tell. There are about the same number of ended items on my Watch List as there were last year or two, as it appears that old, ended items are being removed at about the same rate that I am adding new items to the list.

re. Adding ended items to Watch Lists:

So this is definitely a bug then, as two months ago it worked perfectly well – just as it should do, given there is still the "Add to List" drop-menu on ended items pages.

re. Ended items immediately being removed from Watch Lists:

So seemingly your saved items are NOT immediately being removed from your Watch Lists when items end. Mine are, only items that ended before a couple of months ago remain on my Watch Lists (along with live listings, obviously).

These are both unexplained behaviours. Nowhere in the site's documentation or announcements do Ebay mention any behaviour/feature changes to Watch Lists... so surely they must be bugs??

I wish an Ebay representative would just come here to clarify the situation (feature changes or bugs?) so the millions of Ebay users who rely on Watch Lists to actually to track items and buy stuff on their website, are not left guessing as to whether to expect fixes or not?

Lack of communication from Ebay is the problem here. Hrrrumph!
