Unsupported TLD's

I was recently trying to sign up for a new business account and found eBay won't support the .llc domain TLD in an email. This was introduced quite a while ago. How do I get eBay to fix this?

Is the account ID you are trying to use every remotely similar to your mail address you want to use?

I can't even get that far. See attached screenshot with an example. It seems like any ".llc" is rejected.2022-06-28 14_41_04-Register_ Create a business account - Personal - Microsoft Edge.png

@eburtonlab or @shipscript  can either of you comment about this?

You also get that message if the name is even remotely related to anything in the email address, but if that's not it, then hopefully someone else knows.

About the only thing I could suggest as a workaround would be to register a free account at a .com provider such as gmail and forward all mail to that mailbox to your .llc email account. Then use the .com address to register your eBay account.

At some point eBay will likely add support for .llc addresses, and you can switch to your actual address at that point, if needed.

I was going to suggest the same, with the important note that Google will delete inactive accounts (ie: accounts you haven't directly signed into for 6 mo), so if you go this route, set up a calendar alert to sign in to gmail directly at regular intervals.

It's so easy to rely on mail forwarding and forget to keep the account active by signing in once in a while. Plus, signing in directly at least once/month gives you a chance to check the SPAM folder in case anything important slipped through.

Thanks for the tag @eburtonlab! I've passed this feedback/request on to allow .llc email addresses to be used on eBay accounts. In the meantime, what you and @wastingtime101 advised is a good alternative option.

I don't want to use a different email just for my ebay account. The .llc TLD has been around several years now and this isn't fixed.

Is it possible to setup with a different email and then change my email afterwards to a .llc email address?

You should be able to register a different (non .llc) address for use on eBay, and then set up a forwarding rule in your new email address so that all your eBay email is forwarded directly to your .llc address, as mentioned in the thread above. Just be sure to periodically sign in to the new email account to keep it active.
