Undefined eBay bucks offer
I’m offered 8% bucks on qualifying items over a certain amount but they haven’t told me what the qualifying items or categories are or what the minimum purchase amount is. Is this widespread? no more info provided as /after activating. Here’s the full offer:
8% in eBay Bucks on every qualifying item (the “Promotion”).
Only invited, registered eBay Bucks participants who receive the promotional offer from eBay in My Messages are eligible. Sorry, no forwarding—the offer is not transferable.
The Promotion starts at 4:00AM PT on December 27th, 2021 and ends at 11:59PM PT on December 29th, 2021 (the “Promotion Period”). The Promotion applies to any qualifying items purchased during the Promotion Period that meet the minimum purchase requirement. You must activate the offer to qualify.
*Qualifying items exclude all items in the following categories: Classifieds; Business & Industrial, but only for Heavy Equipment within that category; Real Estate; Gift Cards & Coupons, including eBay Gift Cards, Gift Cards, and Digital Gifts within that category; Bullion within the Coins & Paper category; and all categories in Motors, except Parts & Accessories.
Rewards are capped at $100 per transaction and $500 per Earn Period. See eBay Bucks Terms & Conditions for other program restrictions. Purchases must be completed during the Promotion Period and paid for before the Promotion ends. eBay reserves the right to cancel, amend, or revoke the Promotion at any time.
Activate the offer now.

The qualifications are spelled out in the message you quoted -- there is no minimum amount.
If your account was targeted for this promotion, after you use the activation link, you should see eBay Bucks info displayed on qualifying listings if you are using a desktop browser or at checkout if you are using a mobile browser or the eBay app.

One important caveat:
I notice that auctions that end after the eBay Bucks promotion deadline still seem to be displaying a 1% eBay Bucks amount. Apparently the software is smart enough to recognize that the auctions do not qualify for the 8% promotion, but not quite smart enough to notice that the 1% daily eBay Bucks return no longer applies.
For users that qualify for and have activated the current 8% eBay Bucks promotion, auctions ending after 12/29 are displaying apparently invalid 1% eBay Bucks returns.

Ah, thank you for bringing that to our attention @eburtonlab. I've filed a ticket with the tech team as you're right, nothing should be showing at all for auctions that end after 12/29.

Thanks re. 1%. But Umm…
Where?

All I see is a bunch of information about what does NOT qualify! For Example are you able to identify a category that it says it does apply on? I’m not. I have learned not to make assumptions when it comes to things ebay doesn’t say.

Thanks for including the photo but wow this is incredibly inappropriate. I’m on mobile so that I have to do that- go to check out - is crazy.
@velvet can you clarify? What categories are included?

Unless a buy it now item is listed in one of the excluded categories, it should qualify. Auctions must end before the offer expires to qualify.
See here for more complete details about eBay Bucks and what qualifies:
https://pages.ebay.com/rewards/terms.html
I just checked using the eBay app, and also using a mobile browser, and the eBay Bucks amount appears under "Shipping, returns and payments" as "Rewards" in the item listing if the item qualifies.

You do not need to ask anyone from eBay, you can confirm for yourself if an item qualifies or not the next time there is an offer.
When the offer is active, you can look at an individual item listing, and the amount of the potential eBay Bucks earnings will appear in the listing if the listing qualifies. If no amount appears, the listing does not qualify or there is no active offer.
Currently this works on the web site, desktop and mobile, and in the eBay app.

As of 2022-01-01, the 1% eBay Bucks return now appears in Buy-it-Now listings as well as auctions, and the eBay Bucks seem to be posting to the transactions page once checkout is complete.

There are 1000's of categories. They will NEVER list all those categories. The message clearly spells out what it does NOT include and it's really only a handful of categories that are NOT included.
Everything OUTSIDE of that category is included. The category is shown at the top of any listing after you click on it, but before you click 'bid' or 'buy it now' so you can clearly compare that category to the list.
But, it should be quite easy to see if you are searching for Cars or Large Equipment or Coins/Bullion or Gift Cards.

Thanks @eburtonlab! I've updated the ticket to include this new information. Something strange is definitely going on.

Hi @eburtonlab! They're saying they aren't seeing this anymore. Have you noticed eBay Bucks showing up in any recent listings you've looked at? If not, it sounds like you got some bonus bucks. If so, will you provide me with the item numbers for the active listings so I can pass those back over to the tech team? Thank you!

I think the 1% eBay Bucks disappeared from listings around the same time that the new certificates started being issued -- late Sunday night or early Monday. I no longer see that 1% displayed on any of the listings I have checked. If I spot any new ones, I will let you know.
The fifteen cents still appears on my eBay Bucks transactions page.

Ok, thanks for following up @eburtonlab. I'm ok with you having the eBay Bucks still. 😉 🤗
