Is anyone else having problems sending messages via eBay Messages? It has been several hours and I need to contact my buyer.

Are you using a mobile browser, the eBay app, or a desktop browser?
What happens when you try to respond?
Try another device, browser or browser mode (mobile, classic, desktop), or try using a different link entirely.
If you are trying to respond via an email link, try going directly to your message inbox in eBay messages.
If you are unable to respond there, try going to your buyer's feedback page, and using the "contact" link there.
If you are having problems getting your message inbox to load properly, try going to ebay.ca and reaching your messages there.

I am using a desktop computer using Google Chrome. I tried replying through my message inbox, and through Contact Buyer. The message on Contact Buyer comes up: "Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later."
The message on the inbox says it has expired. I'll try again using Firefox on my computer, and maybe my iPad.
I'm trying to reach the buyer because her package was returned by the post office.

How old is the transaction? If the transaction is more than sixty days old, it may have expired and may no longer appear on the site, in which case you cannot reply to the message regarding it. Or eBay may have pulled the individual message for policy reasons, or yanked the buyer's account.
Try going to the buyer's feedback profile page; that will allow you to tell if the buyer is still registered, and if so you can use the "contact" link there.

As a test, I tried contacting a user that was no longer registered. After composing a message using the "contact" link on the feedback page, once I hit "send", this was the result:
There may be many possible reasons for getting that message.

Yes, It started happening to me today. 6/9/2021. I get to the contact page for my buyer and my "send message" tab is not working. Instead of it being a live (dark blue) colored tab it is a dead, non functional (light blue/ greyed out) tab. The Cancel button next to it works but my send message tab has been down all day. I contacted ebay for business on Facebook and all they said was they will pass the info on to tech support. I had two buyers today that I needed to contact and could not. Very frustrating. I hope they get it fixed soon because I need to communicate with my buyers so I don't get dinged on my DSR ratings by eBay.

Have you received a message from eBay that you have reached the maximum number of messages for the day?
If not, try another browser or try sending a message using the eBay app to see if that makes any difference.
Or try using an alternative link on another page to send a message: profile page, feedback page, reply to message. If nothing works on ebay.com, try sending a message from all those pages on ebay.ca instead.

I have the same problem when working with it on desktop. I am working with someone on a custom crochet order and need to contact them to ask further questions and send a link of the listing once it's done.
(Solved the issue)
I did successfully send messages (although no way to link listings) through my eBay phone app. And when I check sent messages even through the desktop it does show and sent. So use the app when that unable to send message pops up on desktop. Carolb
I really don't like this, if it keeps up I will switch to another selling site. I mainly work from desktop and not from phone. They say its to prevent spam. Well when working with custom orders the buyer expects to be contacted as to progress, further questions and then the link to the listing so they don't have to search through the listings in the seller's store to find their listing (fortunately mine only has 6 listings so it's easy) but overall this will not work in the long run. Another exodus of crafting/handmade seller base may be happening as a result of this. And I will be among them.

i am blocked on my computer , my son is not and was able to send messages ..what the heck is going on? and this was concerning refund, no advance tab is also blocked

What browsers have you tried?
What page are you trying to send a message from when you get the error? There may be an alternative page or link that does not produce the error.

Unbelievable. I am STILL having this issue. I've tried on my phone (Messaging has not been working correctly on my Android for a while now - the link always takes me to the home page instead.) on Chrome, and on Explorer and it is still telling me:

Mobile browsers are prone to page redirection issues when certain pages do not render correctly in mobile or classic mode. Desktop mode may still work though, as long as you open all links in the same browser tab.
Are you able to read your messages using a desktop browser, or using the eBay app?
Make sure you are signed in to the correct eBay account if you have more than one. Trying to respond to an eBay message via email will not work if you are signed in to a different eBay account.
If you cannot reach your eBay messages inbox using a desktop browser, try this link for messages from members:

If you are having problems responding to a message, go to the user's feedback or profile page and compose a new message there using the "Contact" link.
If you are prompted for an item number and get an error, try using the "not about an item" option.
If none of that works, try reading or responding to messages on ebay.ca instead of ebay.com.
