What browser are you using?
The reason I ask is that there was a situation not too long ago involving a popup message in sellers' accounts that many folks using Chrome or Safari had trouble getting past. At least some of those folks were able to close the popup using Firefox. It might be worth trying another browser to see if you are able to get past it and place a bid.
Also, if you search the community using the exact text you are seeing in that popup message, you might be able to find other instances where users have run into that situation to see if anyone else has discovered a workaround.
