The "upgrade geniuses" strike again ??
I listed a book from the World Trade Center under Historical Memorabilia but ebay won't let media mail
be selected as postage. Why shouldn't that be our choice instead of their cumbersome mistake?
I wonder if the money to do this upgrade went to a "friendly overseas provider"? Why are they interfering with the business of the postal service......Is a book no longer a book because it was listed in another category??
About as bright as making one do the additional work of adding things to "item specifics" that are already clearly in the listing title. They never cease to amaze me, but not in a good way....all politics I guess, no concerns about performance for the core business. So today I will have to take my package to purchase media mail postage at the Post Office, then resend the tracking number to the buyer. Thanks geniuses!!

Thanks for the insight of the political aspect! Otherwise it wasn't a "glitch" it was something that was recently created as a result of some of their "work". Best regards and best of luck !!

My opinion is that this is the result of listing in the Historical Memorabilia category vs Books. I really think that's the "culprit" here rather than an eBay oversight. If you look at the list of what eBay considers historical memorabilia, books are not on the list, therefore not a "logical" shipping method. (On the other hand, it seems that the choice should be yours to make when you purchase labels through eBay, no matter what you're selling, so I don't agree with eBay's "logic" either, especially since if you underpay or use something the USPS doesn't approve of, they actually notify eBay and eBay debits your payment account here, so I definitely agree with you.) But listing within the book category allows you to choose the "antiquarian and collectible" subcategory, which I think applies to your item. I think doing that would have given you the expected media mail option when purchasing postage, but that's all water under the bridge as they say.
Sorry you had to deal with this.
