Recently viewed items false

My Recently Viewed items are not mine!

I have no interest in farming or agriculture yet according to my homepage, I recently viewed many items from tractors, to JCBs, toppers, spreaders, sileage collectors and other items of torture.

I called Ebay last week, they told me my account had been hacked (it hadn't) and to change my password and turn on 2-factor, which I did. I also then cleared the RV Items.

This week all these implements of destruction have returned, plus other like spice racks and LED signs that I have not viewed.

I called EBay again, and although I think my English language skills are quite good, I had difficulty explaining to the agent that no, it's not that I can't log in; It's not that my account has been hacked; It's not that I'm seeing bogus transactions; Yes I have already turned on 2-factor etc; it's just that I'm not an agriculturalist and I haven't been looking at bovine wormers.

In the end the nice lady said she would report it. I took that to mean do nothing and get me off the phone.

We shall see; Anyone else have this?

Re: Recently viewed items false

I'm seeing the same issue.  Items I recently looked at aren't showing up, but items I've never looked at are.  I'm sure my account wasn't hacked (no one attempted to bid or buy anything, and how could items I recently viewed disappear?).

I assume you've done a virus/key logger scan?

Yes, nothing untoward here.

Re: Recently viewed items false

I would assume that what eBay CS told you way simply made up garbage.

It is likely just a glitch and the recently viewed items code is pulling incorrect info from the database when it populates your recently viewed items page. (there were issues with recently viewed items re-populating, and sometimes being undeletable a few months back)

Still, just in case, keep an eye on your account, and check to see if anything else has been changed in it (email addresses, mailing addresses, phone number, etc)

If you have changed your passwords and are using two factor auth, it is highly unlikely your are being "hacked again", and therefore highly unlikely that the original issue was a "hack". Even if your machine or device were compromised with a keylogger or other malware, or a man in the middle attack of some sort is occurring, the 2-factor auth would pretty much prevent anyone accessing your account even if they did intercept the password unless they are very very good)

Pretty sure it is just a glitch.

Re: Recently viewed items false

I think so, and an annoying one. I hope Ebay fix it.

I don't think it's a hack, as farmers aren't usuall;y known for their tech savvy! 😉

Re: Recently viewed items false

There were some posts over the summer about similar issues that were traced back to the users having a shared IP address, either same household, apartment complex or a older "shared" internet gateway.   It may be that someone else is accessing eBay via your IP or with a shared IP that you use on a frequent basis.
