Rate This Item in Feedback

Making the new "rate this item" a compulsory part of feedback is a mistake.  On many purchases I would have been happy to provide positive feedback on the seller, but did not want to rate the item.  Please make "rate this item" optional.  I hope someone from ebay is reading this blog.

Can you tell me what path you used to access the other view for feedback?  Is it the leave feedback at the bottom of your feedback page?    This is great info to be able to share.

When I have feedback for more than one member, after the first feedback is given I am sent to the alternate Leave Feedback page to send more feedback to others I have left to send. 
I have the link book marked to get to it.

Add me to the complaint list. The Rate This Item is a TERRIBLE idea. Answering it is "required," so you can't submit feedback without doing so. What if the item is a gift? I won't be using it, so I can't possibly rate it. Plus, it's completely ambiguous: "Rate" what? Rate the price? Rate the quality? Rate the utility of the item? All that this is going to do is keep even more people from leaving feedback.

I am NOT happy that I am REQUIRED to rate an item when that should be OPTIONAL!!! So, since I don't want to rate items, I will not be leaving feedback for ANY purchases I make until they change the feedback form. Whose stupid idea was it to make it mandatory in the first place???

I'm hoping that they change it quick enough for me to go back and leave feedback in a timely manner. smh @ ebay.

To make it easier on me I'm going to put add what I would have said in feedback into a Note for those items in My Purchases.

If you do wish to leave feedback without the rate this item requirement ( which I agree needs to be removed)   just go to the Leave Feedback Link at the bottom of your feedback page>  https://www.ebay.com/fdbk/leave_feedback

Thanks. I got lucky as I was typing my other post that a window popped up asking if I wanted to give ebay feedback, which I did. Do you think it's the same feedback tool as the one you posted?

@dreambiglovelife It's hard to say with all the changes eBay is making in the feedback section.

The path I normally use is from the Purchase History page. That's what's now making us rate the item.

@dreambiglovelife   The path I took is from the bottom of your Profile page.  Click on the numbers next to your user ID  to go to your feedback profile page.  

Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on this link>

No, not really. That's not how the product rating works. If I buy a movie on a used DVD, I'm not actually being asked to rate that specific DVD,  but the product in general. So is it a good movie? Is it a have good extras? If I haven't watched the DVD, then I can't answer that question. If I got a scratched DVD, that should go in the feedback - it woudn't be fair to give the movie one star because the copy I got was bad. I don't even think this was supposed to be mandatory. Pretty sure it's probably a bug.

I completely agree! This will discourage people from leaving feedback. Luckily, the Feedback Forum page does not require an item rating. Hoping eBay does not discover this and change it!

I absolutely agree. It should not be compulsory. I want to rate and give positive feedback for the seller, and I'm not being allowed to until I rate the item (a DVD film). I'm not a film critic and I have no interest in rating it. This is a very ill-conceived idea from ebay.

Completely agree. I've avoided leaving feedback a couple of times just because I wanted to give the seller a positive feedback without rating the item. What's even worse is that it's redundant. What is the difference between "rate this item" and "item description?" Can an item be great and not match the description? Can it be awful and match the description? Honestly, making this mandatory is just plain stupid.
