I purchased one single item but received 4 eBay delivery notifications using 2 different carriers. One delivery notification even preceded the order date. How can an 'intelligent' system allow such obvious errors and tracking falsification by my bogus seller?

eBay relies on the tracking information provided by the seller and updates from the seller's chosen shipping service since eBay does not actually ship or track any packages itself directly.

You can avoid many issues by choosing to deal exclusively with experienced sellers that have a demonstrated track record of selling and delivering within the specific category you are interested in, and by avoiding new or inexperienced sellers, or sellers that have large gaps in their recent selling history or drastic changes in seller behavior or products sold.
