Notification Feed Stopped Working Again

The Notification Feed is not working again.

This has been an ongoing issue for a few weeks.  The Notification Feed gets flakey & displays limited updates, then stops completely.  As of a few hours ago it stopped working.

This also appears to impact the Helpful Count, as I think it's processed through the Feed?

My notification feed seems to be working perfectly.

As far as the helpful counts go, I wouldn't worry about it. They aren't relevant to most members. Most people consider the number of solutions any member has received to be of much more importance when judging the worth of a member's contributions. Helpfuls are generally regarded as insignificant--a popularity contest, mainly--to anyone who's been participating on the discussion boards any length of time. We've all seen a surge in someone's helpful count when a particular issue arises, but when the dust settles, the poster loses his/her following. The posters who last and are considered to be a value to the community are the ones who consistently give good, sound, helpful advice to other members who come here for answers--solutions--to issues they're encountering.

But I digress.

You can see how many helpfuls you've received when you look at your profile. In the last week, you've received:

0 on April 9
0 on April 8
5 on April 7
4 on April 6
5 on April 5
7 on April 4
10 on April 3
21 on April 2

We're working to fix an issue with community platform slowness. There is no known issue with notifications at the moment. If you are tagged in a post and you do not see a notification that'd be a good place for us to start investing a potential notifications issue. 

Let me know if you've a way to verify "missing" notifications.

There is definitely a problem with the Notification Feed.  For the 2nd night Notifications stopped coming in shortly after 7 PM (last one received was 7:21 PM).  I definitely saw some posts/replies to me yesterday that were time stamped and did not trigger a Notification.  When I have time I'll try to go back and find a couple of examples for yesterday and this evening (haven't looked yet). 

After Notifications stopped late in the day yesterday, they started again in the early morning today (at 4:31 AM).  This same thing happened a couple of weeks ago, when you confirmed there was a problem.

Nice to know that your notification feed is working.  For the second night in a row mine isn't, but it's just one of many things not working on the site.

Regarding your insightful thoughts on eBay's Helpful Count .... it wasn't really Helpful, so I won't tag it Helpful. 🙂

I'm still new here at Community Boards (~ 2+ months) and tagging a post Helpful is a good way to affirm you agree with the post, so it is "Helpful." 

I agree with you that Accepted Solutions are a good metric for resolving issues.  I received my first one today, but the issue still needs eBay to act and that hasn't happened yet (pornographic items are still being displayed when searching for Disney items). 

I agree also about giving good, sound, helpful ..... and factual information here.   

Regarding the information you posted here about my Helpful Count (which I'm not sure why you posted), this is not accurate at all.  Not sure how you came up with your numbers.  When I signed in this morning I had a total of 674 in my Helpful Count and as of just a few minutes ago I had 699.  I also confirmed for todays date (which lists by post, so you have to add them up to get a total).

So to correct your numbers for today:  0 on April 9    It's actually:   25 on April 9

It may in fact be more, if the Notification Feed not working impacts the Helpful Count (which I suspect it might).

I had a lot yesterday too (and other days you listed), but don't really have time to correct all of the wrong numbers you posted.

There is a record of how many (if any) helpfuls each posted comment has received. It links to "Who Helped this Message," in case that is of interest. Posts are listed by date and can be counted for a  daily total, if one so desires.

As I recall, the leader boards reflect either a 30-day or a monthly total, so older helpfuls would constantly be dropping off and new ones would be added. I've seen numbers change throughout the day, so I don't know when the totals are updated or if it's perhaps a dynamic number.

Exactly how is the leader board helpful count updated? Does the community platform still use weighted kudos? The eBay community help page still has a reference to them . . .

What is Kudos weight?

Your helpful weight is the number of helpful you give each time you click Helpful!.

If you're new to the community, you're helpful weight is probably 1 (each helpful counts as 1). More experienced community members might have a higher helpful weight, so they could give two helpful, ten helpful, or more each time they click.

I'm quite Tech Savvy, so I'm able to navigate and find the information, but thanks.  What I was pointing out was that you were providing incorrect information about me and the Helpful Count and I was correcting this.

I'm tracking the Notification Feed concern and collecting information.  What I'm seeing sometimes during the day is less Bells than Tags (i.e. 2 Bells and 4 Tags).  In one case this evening there were 4 Bells and 11 Tags (while on the phone with eBay Concierge).  When the Notification Feed stops working I get nothing, but can go back and find replies to posts later.  In the morning I had 16 Bells, so it seemed to track better when things were quiet.  I think the platform is getting bogged down with a lot of CB traffic and the bottleneck is causing problems.  Issue start more in the afternoon and get worse in the evening (when a lot of people post here).  I reported to Customer Support.  The Helpful count also seems to be off a little for today, when I reviewed with Customer Support.

Thanks for the information, @greg5000. We'll keep a close eye on the notification feed and do let us know if your recording uncovers inconsistencies that we can report to our platform provider.

The Notification Feed stopped working again today and numerous members are also reporting this.  This time the bell count shows 0.  This happened sometime between last night and this morning (5/4/19). 

Also, the feed has continued to be flaky and not registering all notifications since I posted here in early April.
