Main Photo for search results, Is it Random?

My Main Photo selection for the search results should be the first photo of the up-to-12 you can use for a listing, correct? In other words, when people search and find my listing, the photo they see before clicking on the listing, it is supposed to be the first photo of my listed photos, right? The one all the way to the Left in the string of up to 12? But PROBLEM! Ebay is randomly selecting any of my photos to use for the listing's featured Main Photo!!!! What the heck is going on? How do I choose the photo I want? They sometimes pick my store's logo or my flyer or my promo pic, and not the first photo that actually shows the item!!!! It's crazy. How do you fix this? Thanks!

Wow, that's really odd.   

Try using this listing tool to see if it helps, it's not available on the app.

Use the advanced listing tool. When you click on the sell tab, upper right hand corner on a pc, you should see a "use advanced listing tool" option OR it may also say "use form with more choices" .

I'm having the same problem.  My main photo is in the spot for the Main photo, it does not show up in a search, a random other picture in my variation listing is showing.  I have 11 variations in this listing so the main photo instead of showing 11 colors at the same time shows only 1 so if a buyer is scrolling down they may not want to bother clicking on it if they think from my picture that I only have 1 shade. While the person below me (stole my picture by the way) is showing up just fine.
