List & Collections - What a Train Wreck!!!

I'm a long time eBay user, but hadn't listed much for sale until recently. Now I'm trying to organize my My Ebay page & I'm appalled at how terrible the experience has been.

I find help pages explaining how to use collections & lists...and the user interface (UI) in many places promises that these features still exist, but I'm learning that Ebay has clearly butchered whatever useful functionality was there in the past.  (Does anyone there manage a holistic view of the product or user experience?)

I can get to pages about how to use these features (lists & collections)...

I can create lists, but not add things to lists from My Lists, Watch List or item Listings.

How in the world do sellers do the following?

1. How do you organize the many items you're selling into groups of similar items (like departments or aisles in a physical store)? Clearly this is needed from a practical management standpoint.

2. How do you organize or watch competing items you might be watching into groups to A) see if they sell and B) track the prices things are selling at in the market? Having hundreds of items in one Watch List sucks...and saved searches aren't really a solution because no one search can capture all (and only) the items you might want to compare with something you're listing (unless you're listing something that is a name-branded-UPC-bearing commodity).

These seem like common user tasks/scenarios that Ebay's User Centered Design (or UX) team should have identified years ago. Does Ebay provide any support for sellers in these areas?  Are there other selling tools that provide a better toolset?

What are other selling using/doing to stay organized and monitor other listings?

Thanks in advance.
