Hey there folks,
I’ve already spoken to customer service and they went ahead and forwarded a ticket for it to the appropriate department, but I figure it can’t hurt to ask here in case anyone else has experienced this and/or knows a way around it.
Messaged received is “Error on saving Profile.” on both mobile and desktop when trying to update the bio in my profile’s “about” section, at least 98% of the time—I was able to modify it on two attempts of many but for reasons unknown. Have tried logging out of accounts on both beforehand since I did change username recently, but to no avail. Perhaps didn’t wait long enough in between, will try again…
I’m about to upload a bunch of items and just want to update the info to proactively answer some questions and put buyers at ease, etc… Have been experiencing this for at least a week.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Oh, forgot to mention it’s also within the character limit, and from what I can tell all normal parameters.

Don't know what the issue is but must say that with buying/selling for over 23 years on eBay I have never found reasons to put anything in the "about me" section. What is seen on mine is what eBay provides.
I do believe in all the time that I have been buying that I can count on one hand the number of times I have looked at the seller "about me" section. I look at the listings, and the feedback of a seller.
Have been to "about me" many times from board readings, but as a buyer......................... not much.

It looks like you have recently changed your username. If you have not fully signed out of eBay and signed back in, try doing that now. This should allow the changes to fully propagate throughout your account. Until that happens, the old username may still appear in certain locations, which can lead to odd errors when trying to update things.

This same exact thing has been happening to me! I tried to edit my about section multiple times on my desktop and phone and still can’t get past the error message to get it to save. Any luck figuring it out?

Hello everyone,
I want to bring attention to an issue with the profile description feature that I have identified. Many users may not realize that including line breaks in their descriptions is causing an error when they attempt to save their profile. This results in the description not being saved at all.
Through investigation, I discovered that the <textarea> element used for profile descriptions is not handling or saving line breaks correctly, which leads to this error during the save process. This means that formatted descriptions with multiple lines cannot be saved successfully.
I’m sharing this finding so that the support team is aware of the problem and can look into it, as fixing this would improve the user experience significantly.

Thanks for following up, I’m sorry I didn’t do the same as I actually did kind of figure out what my issue was… Uhm, it probably should’ve been obvious to me, and I’m sorry for putting folks out for this, but my problem was that I had some [return]s/[enter]s in there rather than spaces… I forgot that most bios don’t really allow for that, haha…

Yup, this was exactly my issue. The error message was completely unhelpful ("there was an error saving your profile"). Once I got rid of the 1 carriage return I had in there, my profile updated with out issue. Thanks for the tip!
