Incorrect Sales Tax Collected

TECHNICAL ISSUE:

My latest sale was for NY.

The packing slip shows NY Sales Tax was paid for just the item.

The buyer paid .94.

-

But the order detail page shows the NY Sales Tax as $1.34 which is the correct amount that

should have been paid.

This is correct because tax was charged for the shipping in addition to the item.

-

There seems to have been and maybe still is this issue with Ohio - according to another discussion.

-

Hopefully  eBay can fix this glitch.

Please, Amy

Classic packing slip stuff I covered a while back for bulk shipping packing slips with wrong addresses that is aort of the general idea:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Shipping-Returns/Ship-To-address-appearing-on-packing-lists-instead-of...

Classic packing slip URLs are of the form:
https://shiptrack.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?PrintPackingSlip?transid=nnnnnnnnnnnnn&itemid=NNNNNNNNNN...

The bookmarklet in that post referenced above will pop open classic packing slip pages for two or more bulk labels when clicked on the bulk label page (you could just select the one you want a packing slip for and another random one to be able to use that bookmarklet)

A bookmarklet to operate on a single new label flow label creation page and pop open a classic packing slip for that item:

javaXscript:(function(){var%20urlbase=
document.location.href.match(/^https?:\/\/gslblui\.ebay\.com\/gslblui\/new_label\?/i);
if(urlbase==null)return;
var%20tid=document.location.href.match(/transId=\d{13}/gi);
var%20iid=document.location.href.match(/itemId=\d{12}/gi);
if(iid==null||tid==null)return;
window.open('https://shiptrack.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?PrintPackingSlip&'+iid+'&'+tid,'_blank');
})();

Copy and paste above code in as location in a new bookmark, remove the X from javaXscript, name it ClassicPackSlip (or whatever), save, an click it when on a label page to automatically pop open a classic pack slip for that item.

If you have a better idea for that bookmarklet let me know. Could also be redone to launch from the classic order page, or the new order page you are jumping to the classic order from. These types of things can also launch from selected text on a page if that is a good thing (I do one bookmarklet that loads an item listing page from a mouse highlighted item number on a page - handy for chasing down items in forum posts). Or can be set up to throw up prompts where item number and transid are typed or pasted in and then launch the page. Million ways to slice and dice it depending on where one wants to start and go.

Hi @dtexley3, I'm not certain what features you are referencing, as packing slips have been available for quite some time and sales tax collection is separate from what has been pictured here. I can confirm that our developers are looking into the way that sales tax is displayed on the packing slip and updates are on the roadmap to either resolve the discrepancy, allow for edits, or simply remove it altogether. In the meantime, if you happen to see any buyers who are upset with the total on the packing slip, I'd love to get this feedback passed along. While I certainly understand the concerns that sellers have raised about the possibility of a buyer being upset, so far I've been unable to find reports of buyers having a poor experience because of this issue.

Re: Incorrect Sales Tax Collected

@Anonymous    The features I was referring to (in the post before  the one you replied to) was the loss of the ability to edit and correct incorrect sales tax paid by buyer and recalculate totals on the item sales record.  This loss occurred when opting in to the new Orders Page.  In the "classic" orders page there are editable shipping choice, shipping cost, tax by state and discount fields.  So in the "classic" view the problems of this thread - wrong sales tax on packing slip - could be corrected by the seller and saved in the item sales record.  Those who have opted in the to new Seller Hub Orders Page no longer have that ability to make those corrections.  This makes the pending corrections to the sales tax on the packing slip more urgent.  Hope that clarifies the situation.  Was not sure you knew that the edit capability is lost?

Hi @babclassics, thank you, I understand now. I was confused by the reference to new features rolling out when discussing features being removed. I can pass along this feedback, I just want to clarify that when features are not available on a new view of a page, it may be intentional or the first step towards removing those features altogether. I know this topic is being discussed by the appropriate teams and changes may be in the works. Since tax is collected and remitted by eBay for some states, and collected by the seller in other states, we may make changes to make this experience more consistent and take some of the confusion that could arise out of the seller's hands. Thanks again for the clarification and the added detail, I'm getting all of this over to the appropriate teams for review slight_smile

Re: Incorrect Sales Tax Collected

Tech Problem Not Fixed Yet !

Once again I had to spend extra time 'fixing' my sales record so that I could print an accurate packing slip.

Please consider finding a tech that can fix this on-going glitch.

Thank you, Amy

Re: Incorrect Sales Tax Collected

This problem is bush league stuff and has been around at least for 5 weeks.  I have 3 invoices for South Carolina.  Two of them calculate the 8% sales tax as 16% and the 3rd is 13%.   Inept coding and lack of proper testing in inexcusable.
