It is 2021 and every major platform I used to login has the option for LIGHT MODE and DARK MODE.
Should be built into the web interface without having to install 3rd party clunky dark mode extensions that have access to all your website data and slow down your browsing experience!
C'mon eBay. It would take your developers 1 day to implement this feature! Lets get to it!

Third party browser extensions like Dark Mode or Dark Reader should not have any access to your website data or slow down your browsing experience. Those extensions are just code that runs on your computer to change the way pages are displayed in your browser.

How about they get the basic functionality straight first?

Just something else to mess things up on ebay.....

Of course they have access to all your website data. It is in the disclosure when you accept the extension as an add-on!
And I have experienced first hand the slowness of using these extensions. Are you familiar with JavaScript? Depending on how you code with JavaScript in order to locate and access all DOM elements & their properties for modification you can certainly impact page performance. This is programming 101!

Could you point out an example of such a disclosure?

If you are concerned about the impact on the speed of page display, what makes you think that eBay's entirely theoretical implementation will be any faster?

They have, it was announced last week by a eBay rep on the boards.

Yep, I'm using Dark Mode now, and it is great on the eyes!

This is false. I am speaking of eBay's main site not the community board. The main site has NO DARK MODE within the desktop interface.

Dark Reader and Dark Mode are different things. Dark Mode is the background color and has nothing to do with what information is collected.
