Currently eBay has a number of Technical Issues being reported.  One is with Internet Explorer 11 users on Windows 7 and some Windows 8 computers, where the user gets an error message at the eBay Home Page and can't sign-in.  This has been ongoing for over a month and is also affecting me.  I sign-in on a Community Boards page, which is a work-around.

There are also some other reports of Home Page/sign-in errors with Firefox and with mobile devices.

Are you trying to sign-in at the eBay Home Page?  Do you have some additional information about the problem and what device/browser you're using?

Unfortunately that error code is also associated with a common shipping label problem, so a search of the eBay discussion boards does not turn up much that appears relevant.

If you get a chance, please provide some additional details of what browser you are using, and what page you are on and what you are doing when you encounter this error. If possible, copy the error message and paste it into your post.

If possible, try an alternative browser to access eBay to see if that avoids the problem -- that might help diagnose the issue.

Greg, I am on windows 10 and Firefox 66.0.2 and don't have any problems logging in. Hope this helps with the diagnostics.

Maybe this is a simple solution, but can't eBay send an email (Not an eBay message) to all users asking which system they are using and which browser and what issues they are experiencing.

This is good advice!

Good info can help 'solution' members to help, and when help is not immediately forthcoming, this adds to the knowledge base for a reporting the issue to eBay.

eBay is continually updating this site. Some advice given may have changed. Please reply to this thread, to let us know if this advice works for you. I'm sure they could and this is a good idea, but;

  1. That would open the can of worms that eBay doesn't want to deal with (i.e. they are trying to pretend this isn't a real issue).
  2. Since I believe many users are impacted by this, there are many who might have stopped using eBay because they can't sign-in at the Home Page ...... and they'll never see the message.
  3. Also, not sure if you saw one of my posts, but security software can spoof the Source Website to think it's a more modern browser (i.e. Chrome), when in-fact the user is using Internet Explorer or Firefox.  The data that is collected to track browser usage is highly inaccurate and unreliable.

What is reliable is that you, me, and the many other posts here, are all experiencing the same thing.  It's real, it's daily, and it's not our imagination.

The only thing that does seem to be imaginary is eBay's Technical Support Team.

Greg, that was why I suggested an email not a eBay message thru the message system. I see very few buyers here and if they are having problems many would just go elsewhere. Besides I'm sure the powers that be could put a wonderful spin on the email saying they 1 wanted our input and 2 were improving our
ebay experience.

An email blast to 150 million users, and subsequent managing of the results (biased responses from the relatively few that would answer, calls to CS complaining about spam, etc) makes it a non-trivial undertaking.

eBay (or any website) already know what browser, OS, display size, plugins, and many other things you are using through browser user-agent header and other probing sent with every request to their servers for anyone not actively spoofing or blocking things (likely less than a single digit percentage of users spoofing much less even aware of it)
